It would be good if that vibe could come back some more. It all more about the full package, with the visuals and entertainment value being more important than the singing and actual talent.
Pop girls have always been scantily dressed, since before he was born. There have always been both singers/vocalists like Whitney and Adele and entertainers like Madonna and Rihanna.
I get what he's trying to say tbh. Like Marvin said, he's talking about Whitney/Moo/Celine etc simply stand and let their voice keep you entertained without backup dancers, choreography, slinky leotards, etc. not that those are bad, though.
OMG this guy's ego, since his Grammy nominations & he started thinking way too high of himself and I can't believe he acts like he's the first male artist in a long time that is bringing a more organic sound into the music industry when Bruno has already done in 2010.
It does sound a bit **** shame-y but also very nostalgic too. I guess he was probably just misunderstood.
But who's to say people won't be listening to We Found Love and Poker Face in 50 years? Music is supposed to evolve, it's the reason why people don't write classical symphonies anymore.
and what he fails to realize is that about 90% of these popstars.
are not as talented as the other singers back then. So majority of them can't just stand there & sing.
There's only a select few..
I get what he's saying. He's talking about the old days when Whitney or Mariah would step on stage and just belt their lives away. I miss those days too, Sam, when vocal ability and talent reigned supreme.
I don't think he meant to shame women, he was waxing nostalgically about a period of music that honestly never really existed. As styles every decade varied wildly.
I does read like bitchery, though. He should work on tone when discussing things in the press.
