I agree Epic is the pits, but all the "typical Epic!!!" posts in here are missing the point. That's kinda just how most major label deals work, unfortunately. The label puts x dollars into your project + you in general (an advance), and then any profits from that project go towards paying back the label. You only make money from royalties once the advance has been paid back. I remember in Mitch Winehouse's book how he explained it took ages for Amy to see a big paycheck from her massive success

It's not the label's fault. Most beginning artists don't see their first big checks until 9-12 months after the song has been released, so she fits right into that timeframe considering that "Bass" was released in June.

yea this is what I was getting at. Since AATB was a smash and it didn't have many writers/producers on the song, she should see a nice chunk of it. It all depends on how much money Epic fronted for AATB/LaM etc.
