Not people saying 'worry about other things' when we are all here perched on a pop forum, worrying about who is going #1 next week

that doesn't make it okay though. Telling a girl she has to cut her hair because it's not the typical long and straight type is completely discriminatory

If a black person goes, they either get laughed at or they are immediately assumed to be laborers, prostitutes, nannies, housekeepers, etc. That's how the world works, but it's still wrong anyway you spin it. People, not even just black people, have a right to be mad about it.

A) If you are white in some countries, you're going to have problems. That's invalid, and I can give you my own examples.
B) There's a lot of white people that will be seen as laborers, prostitutes, nannies and so on, even among their own. In Europe, if you are born in countries like Poland, Croatia, Slovenia and so on and you want to travel to other countries and want to try and start a new life there, some people will look at you like a second grade citizen (and this is 2015).
Being mad about braids is pointless and plain dumb

What kind of logic?
A "would you critique a song if you're not a singer" tea.

I'm sorry, but thats a bag of crap. ESPECIALLY in 2015
All races have their stereotypes, if a white person or an asian person came here he would be looked at as soft, weak, easy to take advantage of etc.

Wait, I'm sorry i tried to have an open discussion about race on ATRL. I forgot it is ATRL. You all have to wait for the, "Black woman gets told to leave her job for wearing dreads" thread (if mainstream media even let's the story be run), then you'll still deny something is amiss.
All I see is the "I have a black friend" crowd typing at me angrily as though this is some big issue.
-----
I wish that girl the best luck and I'm glad she kept her twitter up and apologized when she didn't have to do either.

This is ridiculous. It's a hair style not a political statement.

I'm saying essentially, do you think a black woman could get away with wearing box braids or dreads to her corporate America job over a white woman trying the same thing?
If you think "yes", you don't get it.

As if a white person could?

If it's a privately owned school, they have every right to tell how to dress.

Then make a thread discussing racism and cultural appropriation, not make a big deal out of a girl getting braids.

I understand falling on either side of the discussion. That's fine. If you think the girl shouldn't be chastised and cultural appropriation is BS, fine.
But saying the discussion shouldn't even be had is such a plebeian copout

I'm telling you to discuss it using a different thread because it's very rude to use this innocent girl as the umbrella for the discussion. She has nothing to do with cultural appropriation or the race problems of our society. I never said to don't discuss, I encouraged the opposite rather, but to do it in a different thread.
I never said that cultural appropriation was BS, you need to stop putting arguments in other people's mouths.

1) Oh I see you decided to unblock me, how cute.
2) I said who is more likely to get away with it. Not who will get away with it guaranteed. Comprehension is key.
