"Cube Zero" was surprisingly good. They executed the change of pace well and didn't hurt the series' integrity by taking things behind the scenes and not putting the entire focus on the people inside the cube. The
wraparound of storylines at the end
got me really excited and had me turning into a bit of a fanboy.

Although, the
the woman hiding in the woods with the kid was a bit awkward.
Much better than Hypercube! They stuck to their origins with this one and brought back elements that made the first one so enjoyable. Only part that I didn't like was
that Dr. Loveless guy with one eye. The addition of him was pretty extra- I think having just a normal powerful guy in a suit would have been more convincing.
Watched
"The Remaining" afterwards, and it was really boring. I actually fell asleep halfway through and had to rewind it back to the last moment I recalled. There was nothing particularly bad about the movie, it was just very generic and followed a predictable path. The characters sub-plots were unbearably corny, too. It was a good Friday time waster, but nothing groundbreaking or something that I'd watch again. The only saving grace for this movie was the hot guys.

I don't like how they completely changed the meaning behind the cube... it would've been better if the hypercube was just an upgraded version of the one from the first movie. The traps in the first one were way cooler too, it actually felt like somewhat of a horror movie. I'm conflicted on if I even want to watch Cube Zero.

Agreed, 100%! That's why I was so hesitant about watching the movie, all the reviews I had read were really beating down on the redesign of the cube and I can see why. The original Cube had some realism to it and the character interactions added some depth that Hypercube was missing. Like I said, the second movie just felt so much like an excuse to do all these "cool and tots sci-fi" twists.
I just finished Cube Zero a few hours ago, and it's definitely better than Hypercube. First off, they are back to the normal, original cube, thank God! However, it was a really different take on the series overall- and if you found the first one to drag at parts, then you probably won't be too fond of this third one. The element of horror is almost completely taken out and replaced with thriller and sci-fi. There isn't much of a scare factor, and the killings are minimal and nothing unique. That's more my style, though- I don't enjoy watching people get killed a lot, so the new, less gory approach was welcomed. Personally, I'd say it's worth a watch if you have free time and nothing better to do.
