I like running but it bores me and I've found P90X (I didn't pay for it don't worry) but I've watched the starting video and I'm way too scared to start it. Is Insanity any easier or is there any other home workout programme that would be better?

p90x is tough. They have one good cardio workout (plyometrics) but it's still not going to get you the results that regular running will if you stick with it, running is literally the best cardio exercise you can do.
The muscle workouts are hard for beginners. The abs exercises are fine, the leg ones are generally fine too but a lot of the arms/chest stuff can lead to muscle damage, since the workouts are an hour long and if you're not used to lifting then your muscles get really tired in that time and that will leave you prone to losing form and put you at greater risk of injury.
I haven't tried insanity myself, but it might be a better way to go. Stick with the running though if you really want good results, you might help keep yourself motivated by using an app like runkeeper to track your progress and calorie burn (and remember with running you can add an extra 1/3 to the total from the afterburn).
Alternatively, body weight exercises like pushups and pressups are a great way to build muscle if you're just getting started.
