Becky G For V Magazine
Becky G, the Cashmere Bedsheets hitmaker, has been like a fly to **** in the music industry since she surprised released her second album Becky Gsus. After her disappearance, and soon after rescue, it was proven that Becky is definitely a strong independent woman. We sat down with Mrs. G to talk about her album, her beef with Avril Lavigne, and future projects.
V Magazine: "Hi Becky, how have things been?"
Becky G: "Great! Every since I escaped from that pile of flop I've felt creativity reborn. You would think that being around all that terrible... stuff (I'm weary at calling it actual music) would take away from that creative drive, but it pushed me harder. It made me realize that I never want to be like Avril, I never want to be a flop.
VM: "Speaking of flops, what are your opinions on other artists in the industry?"
BG: "Honestly, most of these girls are only charting because the general public is being told that their music is... okay. When I turn on my TV, there's a 1/5 chance I'm going to see Taylor Swift, Azealia Banks, Justin Bieber, or any other artist. They're only here because they're forcing their music down our throats with constant tv spot after tv spot after magazine cover after pepsi deal. I respect some of them, but only for the music. It's cheap to constantly take over a TV show with your garbage. It's selling out. I make music for fun, for my fans. Am I wrong for beefing with some people? Will I regret it one day? Will I myself sell out one day? Will the words in this interview be nothing but a reassurement to my core fans I'm not going to leave them? Time will tell, and most likely I will sell out. I just needed to spill this tea..."
VM: "Wow! That's a lot of spilT tea, Becky. Now tell us about your album, Becky Gsus."
BG: "Becky Gsus is actually an old album! Most songs, excluding Cashmere Bedsheets and Becky Bitch, were recorded for my debut, but since I got that TMNT soundtrack deal we kept these tracks for another day. I wrote most of this album by myself, its a fun album, sorta personal too. The personal part of it has somewhat rubbed off, though, and I don't feel like it's a "new" album.
VM: "Well, do you have any "new" stuff?"
BG: "Yes, actually! I made an EP today that's ready to be released... whenever honestly. It's basically a huge Avril diss, which she deserves. The title is オマンコ, and I basically steal Avril's style on it to let everyone know that I could easily end her career if I really wanted to."
VM: "Are there plans for a third album yet?"
BG: "I have a few ideas for an album. Maybe a double album, maybe a concept album. Who knows! I'm just enjoying my music right now."
Becky G's new album, Becky Gsus, is available to purchase on iTunes today and include the hot new single Cashmere Bedsheets.
