Hey, everyone was praising MKIA before we heard it. There was that one guy from the Sony meetings who was all ZOMG HEARD NEW KELLY IT SOUNDS LIKE BRUNO MARS SMASHHHHHH.

Yeah MKIA got a lot of good reviews before it came out. I think it got those because it was different then what we were use to? It got a lot of 4.5/5 or 4/5 ratings re-reading the thread and the reviews.

The melody for JTWYA was much stronger than MKIA. I still enjoy MKIA. My only pet peeve with the song was with the lack of the peak. The song would have charted higher if she had the Pop production with the vocals she recorded for the Country remix.

The thing with MKIA is that it's pretty uneventful (Especially for a lead single). It's a pretty basic sounding song but it's a earworm. Honestly I wished Dark Side was the first single. It would've performed better than MKIA with the amount of promotion MKIA got.

tbh I'm kinda surprised that there wasn't more of a Halo/Already Gone situation with MKIA and Just The Way You Are....I think they sound far more similar

But yeah, I do like MKIA, but its kinda uneventful for a lead single. It was a grower for sure, a song that you had to hear a few times to start to like and it would get stuck in your head. It wasn't an instant "OMG this song is AMAZING". It was just kinda uneventful after the amazing leaks we got with Stronger, Let Me Down, etc.
