BTW wasn't a flop because of sales and neither is ARTPOP, they're flops because the material sucks.
Rated R is magnificent, and so is LOUD.
.
Rih was still recovering from the controversy in 2009. A lot of people were still siding with Chris and that also contributed to lackluster album sales. The album itself is still phenomenal.
We wont know until she drops her music. And even if people like the music, if it doesn't do as well on the charts, some will say it's a flop and view the material differently. That's just how it goes.
Mr. HIM you are a mess and a half. You know well that Rated R was far from a flop, producing a #1 hit (as well as two other Top 10 singles) and going Platinum. And around the world it did better.
Ms. Gaga is in a much worse position, as her era wasn't as successful, and her public image is actually damaged unlike Rihanna's, who was still considered a cool, sexy pop star with lots of appeal (no shade to Ms. Gaga).
You guys can stay living in your fantasy world about how Gaga is public enemy #1 when c2c is slaying, she's being praised by pretty much everyone, and just got nominated for a Grammy. Keep doing the most until The Emancipation of Stefani comes out, and you'll all be groveling to be stans again.
No. Gaga lacks Rihanna's universal appeal. Even in the "flop" Rated R era, the album sold like 3m which is a little over 2m nowadays (more than ARTPOP), Rude Boy sold more than Applause even though Rihanna has always been Airplay driven, not sales driven. And she had a hit feature with Jay Z. Not only that, but Eminem chose to feature her in his lead single which brought her back on top until the release of the album. None of these things apply to Gaga except C2C which barely appealed to the younger demo.

What is this nonsense lol? How about the fact artRAVE was far bigger than Rih's tour even tho Gaga doesn't have the appeal Rih have ? RB is 2x platinum just like Appluase and ARTPOP would have sold the same if it was released in 2009's climate lol
On which planet was the critically acclaimed, 5 week #1 smash producing, 3 top 10 hit single spanning, certified platinum album Rated R an immense flop? And what kind of immense flop is still painfully unreachable for Gaga?
To answer the question I think you're trying to ask though, no. Gaga will not have another massively successful album.

RR was painfully unreachable to Rih's peers back then and I wouldn't call a 2x platinum single a smash

Not really. ARTPOP would have done 2.5m tops if it were released in 2009. And ARTRAVE is basically the remaining monsters' doing, while we all know Rihanna never really established a dedicated fanbase which only proves my point about her universal appeal more. And of course there's the fact that Eminem in all his greatness wanted her on his lead single and the fact that she was all over the news in 2009.
And once again, Rihanna is airplay driven. Not sales driven.
