This may feel like new Beyoncé territory, but it's been years in the making. The closer she gets to street level, the more human she appears. Will Beyoncé eventually release her own half-singing/half-rapping project like others have done in the past (Lauryn Hill, Drake, Nicki Minaj)? Only 2015 will tell. But if you're at all uncomfortable with the new rap skin Bey's in, just deal with it. She's fresher than you.

hmm.. If she doesnt serve that vocals album and tries her Miseducation of Lauryn Hill who knows.. she can combine both.

at least one thing is sure; XO and Pretty Hurts were the last Pop record we had for a good moment.

XO is a great song, one of her best pop records, it was highly praised by critics as one of the best songs on the album. I love what COS said

Most glorious of all is ‘XO’, a supermassive, dumbstruck ode to being in love and caring about **** all else. It’s the one album track that’s linear enough to withstand a drunken singalong.

What Pitchfork said

"XO" is one of those big, boundary-obliterating pop songs that demands to be projected onto the sky, like the aural equivalent of a firework.

The song was supposed to be huge, but of course it was sabotaged. It should have been a standalone single. Pitchfork thought the song would blow up, too

Still, how could you not know all along that you've got a blockbuster on your hands, when there is a song on your record like "XO"?

I have no idea why she didn't fix Pretty Hurts. The production is so dated. Melody is a bit weak too. I know why she included it. It has a very important message, it's both personal and universal and her vocals slay. But the production is so busy, makes no sense. It's like she released it just to please Sia.

And the radio decided to flop XO. But it's Bey's own fault tbh. She shouldn't have released it as a first single.

Those are Beyoncé's only mediocre/bad songs.

Pretty Hurts angers me most because the rest of the album is so next level and creative. I can't even listen to it.

Yeah, it started to fizzle after Drunk In Love started taking off. Had she promoted it though, I'm sure it would have kept going. She got play on stations she hadn't since 2010 with XO

It still never made it to be a Top 40 hit on the Hot 100...
