Unconditionally is a Pop/AC song by a white woman that was heavily promoted. Pour It Up an urban single, that was never promoted and didnt get a music video until 10 months after release still went Platinum first. So no, Unconditionally is not a hit.
Rihanna's power is limited to her single success. She doesn't have that kind of power elsewhere. Her opening numbers are dismal for someone with all those #1s and years in the business. Her hits singles start low then climb up instead of starting from the top and carrying on from there (like a big act should do). Battleships didn't do well and other side projects. She's not like Katy and Beyonce are now. Britney during Circus was like those girls.
