Lots of tea. 95% of the Azealia/Iggy discussion was correct. Iggy is handling the situation badly. She needs to respect the Urban community and those who are taking issue to her success. But REGARDLESS of that, she is still a talented woman that has worked very hard to get where she is today. She has been trying in America since she was 16. That's almost as long as Macklemore, and as usual that part goes completely disregarded. People don't want to see her as talented, so they can easily label her as bad without having a proper understanding of her music. She feels very attacked in this situation and she feels the need to defend herself. She might be giving off bad impressions but she has no malicious intent. Iggy has genuine love for rap and I sympathize for what she's having to deal with (as a stan of hers). I hope that at some point she will acknowledge her privilege and as the guys said, LISTEN to what people are telling her.

THIS, THIS, and THIS. I do think she has a ton of respect for the urban community as a whole though but not for those who take issue with her success.
BTW I would love a Iggy& Macklemore collab!! the US would be pretty mad at this
Iggy's always liked Macklemore but judging by the way he was talking about her here, I don't think he cares for her anymore it doesn't seem like he would want a collab.
Whew lord at everything said from 33 minutes on. This dude gets it and for that at least, I appreciate him.
So much I could say about the difference in response when this kind of truth comes from a white man, how the majority will still ignore the validity of everything spoken or pick and choose because then they'll be forced to get out of their bubbles and check their privilege, but I'll refrain. I just hope some people watch this, get enlightened and come out with a better understanding of why we're fed up.
They talk about Iggy like 100 times! she is actually creating a movement, she does not need this probably azalia but not Iggy,

Oh shut the hell up. You're literally contributing NOTHING to any conversation. Everyone are trying to discuss REAL issues affecting REAL people majorly and you're here in your stupid stan mod. Ugh, be gone please.

That's the thing for any real hip hop head Iggy is trash. She has yet to hit a hot sixteen. And, she doesn't get the culture. It's also based on battle. When there's a problem you put on wax. This chick runs and cries on Twitter. That's not what real rappers do. Hip hop has always been about the boom bap not run and cry on Twitter. Besides that, you need to check that video of Sway asking her to freestyle. She couldn't do it

That first sentence is exactly what I'm talking about. You don't know her music properly or what her intention is. Idk what your point in the middle is and of course I've seen the freestyle video. It's been out for like a year, people are only checking it out now. Iggy has never been one to freestyle and has never claimed to either. They put her on the spot and she was obviously nervous. Anyway, none of what you said is relevant to Iggy's place in the culture.
Yes, Iggy has white privilege but that's not the reason Azealia didn't make it earlier. Azealia HAD a hit and that was 212, she then decided to push her album back by 2 years. She lost fans by insulting their other idols, and constantly postponing her album. Iggy released some very mainstream pop songs, with memorable videos. Azealia's album is not mainstream and not appealing to everyone. If she made an album full of 212's and promoted her singles with cinematic videos she would be more famous now too. It's quite logical that Iggy got famous more quickly but I do agree it's also because she's white.
