My best friend has been on-and-off with two guys for five years. FIVE YEARS. I don't answer her calls a lot of the time because she just wants to tell me about something that happened with whichever one is in rotation for the next few months (right now it's guy #2 btw). All I end up doing is putting her on speaker while I do something else and throw in a couple of "ooooh wow!" and "hmmm" every couple of minutes.

I've just ran out of things to tell her with BOTH situations, and it's frustrating.
