I agree. Urban music does require a kind of confidence and, despite my disdain for the word, 'swag' to pull it off. Britney's best route is along the lines of mature songs or sexy songs (doesn't have to be directly about the act of sex, maybe just about yearning for someone -- think Two Weeks by FKA Twigs -- that's not the sound I'd pin on Britney, but the theme is viable).
And I too like her electropop songs A LOT, but it would definitely be a step backwards. Basically, I'm on the same page as you lol.
Unusual You should be the blueprint.
Or maybe something like Trip To Your Heart with less autotune (A LOT less).
