Streaming isnt a valid excuse quite yet when DH is getting ready to do 6 million
Anyways, this was definitely a huge hit but not even one of the top 5 of 2014

Well many people heard BS and decided to buy the whole album instead of 1 song.
That was not the case with DH.
When it comes to top 5 songs of 2014, BS was released at the end of the year.
The most important thing is, - it's still #1, anything can happen at this point.
Definitely one of the biggest female singles in this decade.

Not even. Even if it did hit 5 million it wouldnt be. Like I said, its a big hit but no bigger than a lot of #1's this year

What if it spends 11 weeks at #1 in total - the most any female did this decade?
Like I said, anything is possible as it's still #1.

Sales make his, not chart positions. Hot N Cold (5m) and Radioactive (7m) are both far bigger hits than Hold It Against Me and Part of Me (2-3m) for example. And that's why DH and Happy are the biggest hits of the year, even when songs like Fancy and Rude spent more weeks at #1 than DH.

Not you comparing it to PoM & HIAM - songs that managed to snatch #1 just based on Katy & Britney's name alone
As I said 1989 outsold PRISM by FAR. So it's kinda understandable to see Blank Space selling less than Dark Horse considering the purpose of a single is to promote the album. Thanks to BS the album is selling like crazy and yet BS manages to have great week sales such as this one with at least 400k copies sold.
Don't you think that's impressive?

I don't deny that's impressive and never have. You were trying to say that Blank Space is one of the biggest hits this decade, which it isn't. I can name 3 songs by each pop girl that were bigger.

How can we be trolling
I mean, Blank Space is coming for 10+ weeks at #1
It's a MONSTER hit. Pop phenomenon. Total slayage.

Said it a few times already - there is a difference between all those songs and BS - BS is still #1, and going strong. None of us knows the longevity it'll have.
btw I would like you to name 3 Gaga songs( ) that were bigger than BS. As a Gaga stan I can only think of Bad Romance. Born This Way didn't have longevity at all (only 9 weeks in the top 10).
Beyonce? Nah.
Britney? Nah.
Rihanna? We Found Love. Diamonds sold only 3M, What's My Name is in the same category as PoM & HIAM, can't think of any other big Rihanna song (not counting the features).
Katy? Cali Gurls, E.T., Firework, Roar, and okay you kinda win with DH. So there. Only Katy.

You might want to tell that to its iTunes numbers because I think it forgot. UF will take back #1 by Sunday.

Katy? Cali Gurls, E.T., Firework, Roar, BS has 8 weeks at lock at #1 that would be 2x the amount DH spent at #1, but okay I'll give it to you. There 3 from ONLY Katy.
|
3 from Katy??
From this decade alone we have California Gurls, Firework, ET, Roar, and Dark Horse. All 5 or 6 million sellers, all bigger than any Taylor song ever.

We were talking about this decade. Of course JD and PF are bigger than any Taylor (& Katy ) song.
