Gaga could not have been a generation-defining anything.
There seems to be a misconception that she was "cool" to like during her early years and that really wasn't the case. She had the cheap gp-accessible hits with her first two singles but that was about it.
I really do remember her as being cool to like though. Even P4k was stanning at one point.
Everybody thought Gaga was going to be this generation's defining pop star, but I don't know who is now. It's definitely not Taylor or Adele. Taylor only started having cultural impact this era, lets be real. Adele's 21 was huge, but she only had one huge era and people stopped talking about her late 2012.
Not long till you're a senior citizen
and you can strut around with that ~sexy~ tank of oxygen
Honey, your toupee is falling to your left side
Get up and go bro, oh wait.. you're fossilized! HA!
But yeah, I was there and I lived through the whole Gaga phenomenon. Even if it did last about 2-4 years in its entirety, it still happened. But I also understand most SYGers weren't 18 at the time and won't have been on the club scene etc to actually know soooooo...
Britney had her zenith during BOMT/OIDIA, but thanks to the breakdown she got the chance to re-emerge. Every 2-3 years and every passing age bracket has their own it figures. Like, look at right now. What was once Bieber is now One D. What was One D will become something else. What's Taylor right now will be something different in 2016/2017.
