I think Azalea Banks raised a really interesting point, her interview on Hot 97 is by far the most interesting interview this year. She's a lot less crazy than she looks on Twitter. She makes a lot of sense, and you can tell it's a matter that is really dear to her. I hated Iggy's response to Azalea.

It was just stupid. No empathy whatsoever. She simply took her comments on the first degree. Azalea is mad @ what Iggy represents. I believe Azalea's thoughts are legit. I'm not saying Iggy is a disgusting human being. What I'm saying is maybe she should try to understand Azalea's point on the matter, instead of just blatlantly dismissing it. Iggy is really talented, and so is Azalea. Of course, there might be more than cultural appropriation here, and simply a beef between those two... but yeah I also think Iggy is doing Pop music on which she raps; not because of color or race at all. It's pop music heavily influenced by hip hop, on which Iggy raps.

The thing is: Iggy won't go away that soon, because all of that backlash happening is far away from her demographic. The people that buy her records are not the ones who care about this, issue, because they don't see one. They wanna see a girl like Iggy and people within the industry won't stop until Iggy has fully established herself and has probably created some clones along the way.

Iggy was at first marketed towards the rap demographic but that was not translating into commercial success, because people don't respect her there and they don't buy her music.

Just because Iggy isn't the person singing doesn't make them any different to Nicki's hits.

I personally have no problem with Iggy making music. What I have a problem with is people acting like it's better than it is just because she's white.

If Nicki released The New Classic I guarantee the Metacritic score would be even lower & it wouldn't have got a Grammy nomination.

Because it is so simple. Charli didn't go anywhere with her previous album and Fancy put her on the map for a big mainstream audience. Of course, she wouldn't say anything bad about Iggy, how can they even expect that or expect from Charli that she will be interested in discussing this issue outside of a pop-context.
Charli's image has also changed. She is way more marketable than before. It's all about the bratty but sweet & sugary now.
