Like please, sure it went number one, but it doesn't mean hip hop wasn't building. I'm sure there were other hip hp influenced songs that peaked at #100, then #90, another #45, and eventually #1. Not the other way around.

Glad he's standing up for her. This bandwagon hate is ridiculous. Let her do her thing.

I wonder sometimes if Iggy stans don't see anything weird about her surgically enhancing her body to look more like a stereotypical black woman, putting on a faux accent and all of a sudden getting all these smash hit singles and instantly being embraced by mainstream (her album sold 50k and a month later she books the billboard awards, lots of rappers who sell 4x that aren't) while actually, more talent black women aren't. Iggy's career is based off of racism and the fact that she refuses to acknowledge it and considered people calling her out "racist" and tries to act like she is being bullied shows her true colors.
She called herself a slave master and someone who has photo evidence of meeting her several times and praised her on his blog admitted she claimed she'll do better than Azaelia Banks because she "tall & white". Those are nails in her coffin for me. No amount of black men who collaborated with her and made $$$ or coincidentally happen to be friends with T.I. will change that.
Iggy's fans don't care though because they're either racist themselves or extremely narcissistic if not both. It has nothing to do with "hating white people" and they know that.

@ people screaming its blind hate! As if any of us "hate" white people, or anything. I'm chill.
All you guys have to do is listen and understand but something inside of you says, no, black people in America can't be hurting, there is no issue at large, they are just angry and hateful, and you choose to fight and argue against it with every bone in your body. Instead of simply acknowledging and understanding.
Its so interesting.

It's so revealing. Showcasing those character flaws, tbh.
That's why no one is taking their foot off her neck. She is a symbol of the prejudiced and privileged discomfort they all feel and her being called to the carpet is, by proxy, calling them to the carpet on their **** as well. It's necessary.
I know it hurts. Work on it. Change your heart.

There is clearly an issue at large, but if we could stop taking it all out on Iggy that would be qT!
The only "actively racist" thing Iggy still does is the accent, which let's face it, probably won't change. What if her Australian rapping accent sounds a MESS?? It's not like she is rapping in a southern accent in a negative way.
All of the other stuff is in Iggy's past. But.
Also Ddddddddd @ me being a racist for stanning Iggy. Ya'll a mess, does that make all AB fans homophobes??

Iggy get's **** for breathing in the hip-hop world because she puts on a fake accent that makes a mockery of southern black women. Why can't she rap in an Australian accent?
Iggy get's **** for breathing in the hip-hop world because she won't acknowledge her privilege as a white woman. Where as other notoriously white artists (Eminem and Macklemore) have acknowledged that they have it a lot easier in this genre because they are white.
Iggy get's **** because she wants to be black when beat drops, but the second it ends, she's a suburban white woman and refuses to speak on actual racism in the world by turning it into a discussion about herself and why she's a victim, while making fun of a black woman crying in an interview about the struggles of being a black woman.
Iggy get's **** for being a mediocre white artist that's being praised as if she's the second coming of Jesus in the hip-hop world. She's getting grammy nominations, which are awards for excellence in a specific genre/category. But Iggy isn't excellence, there are other artists that are infinitely more talented than she is, but get half as credited all because of their skin color.
Iggy get's **** for tweeting racist **** in her past and doesn't acknowledge it, nor has she apologized for it in any way other than "Sorry if you were offended"
If Iggy didn't want to get ****, she could know her place, know her privilege, and use her privilege to educate others on the injustice that happens in the industry or even make a change on that injustice, and help people notice these other talented artists get the exposure they deserve and the accolades they deserve.
But no, what does she do? She cries on twitter and makes herself a victim.
But please, defend her some more.

People would sympathize more with the people tired of the whitewashing of music (ie the AB side of the issue) if you didn't keep showing y'all's internalized racism by calling everyone coons. Try actually forming an argument, please. These "coons" like Nas, will.i.am, and T.I. all did.

Some of you are trying to give 'Rapture' waaaayyyy too much credit. Hip-Hop was destined to be a force regardless.

The difference is AB fans have the awareness to know that her homophobic comments are disgusting and not cute. More Azealia fans on this site have spoken out against her being homophobic than Iggy stans who speak out against racism. Most of the latter blindly cape for Iggy without hearing or actually knowing both sides.
