Hip Hop was still underground but had growing acclaim by major publications. A pop/rock group like Blondie taking an element of Hip Hop is just another example of them using a cool new genre for personal gain and it worked. Regardless, "Rapture" was only one record and Blondie did nothing on a major level for the entire genre. Will.i.am is basically saying Blondie is a pioneer of hip hop, when that is one of the biggest reaches and would be giving them a bit too much credit.
A better example would have been The Beastie Boys, who were an actual rap group and took it to the mainstream with more than just a small rap portion of a song. Giving Blondie credit for the advancement of hip hop when you have more suitable examples is a bit of a reach.

No, I think he's trying to say Rapture helped make hip hop mainstream. Do you think that's incorrect? It gave rap direct mainstream exposure to people who would otherwise ignore it and probably changed the idea of rap to whites and the mainstream audience since a white person is doing it. Whether that's offensive or not, it's a fact!
If the part in bold is what's really problematic about the situation, where's the protest when urban music producers and artists like Timbaland, Missy Elliott and Beyonce who capitalize on trends for their personal gain by taking elements of Asian music? Baby Boy doesn't even acknowledge it's South Asian origins [except maybe those cut up sari costumes they wear] and even worse, during the video's dance break, she suddenly becomes some Middle Eastern/Greek/Mediterranean belly dancer and then immediately returns to being Indian again at the end of the dance break when she shakes her head with her fingers over her eyes imitating Indian Kathak dancing. The whole video is a hodge podge of cultural appropriation. If that's not an example of using something cool and different for personal gain, I don't know what it is! At least Blondie acknowledges hip hop pioneers in Rapture.

I can't at people getting mad because some people are not dumb enough to blame world problems in one person

Yes, to an extent, he is incorrect (but not totally) because "Rapture" is not truly a hip hop song, and Blondie wasn't a rap artist like Iggy is. I get that his heart was in the right place, especially after the Iggy hate bandwagon, but there are more suitable examples, and I'd arguably that giving Blondie a bit too much credit for a small little playful rap bringing the entire style to mainstream is kinda what helps Azealia's argument.

The usual suspects.
Like, let's compare their careers and "artistic integrity" against someone like Q-Tip and let me know the cognitive dissonance you find.

Exactly that closed mentality of blaming **** on one person is so dumb. Like we've said many times you wanna do
Something join a Damn organization and do some volunteer work for them or donate. Birch about someone you dislike won't fix any of the **** people complain about.

Iggy get's **** for breathing in the hip-hop world because she won't acknowledge her privilege as a white woman. Where as other notoriously white artists (Eminem and Macklemore) have acknowledged that they have it a lot easier in this genre because they are white.
Iggy get's **** because she wants to be black when beat drops, but the second it ends, she's a suburban white woman and refuses to speak on actual racism in the world by turning it into a discussion about herself and why she's a victim, while making fun of a black woman crying in an interview about the struggles of being a black woman.
Iggy get's **** for being a mediocre white artist that's being praised as if she's the second coming of Jesus in the hip-hop world. She's getting grammy nominations, which are awards for excellence in a specific genre/category. But Iggy isn't excellence, there are other artists that are infinitely more talented than she is, but get half as credited all because of their skin color.
Iggy get's **** for tweeting racist **** in her past and doesn't acknowledge it, nor has she apologized for it in any way other than "Sorry if you were offended"
If Iggy didn't want to get ****, she could know her place, know her privilege, and use her privilege to educate others on the injustice that happens in the industry or even make a change on that injustice, and help people notice these other talented artists get the exposure they deserve and the accolades they deserve.
But no, what does she do? She cries on twitter and makes herself a victim.
But please, defend her some more.

"Rapture" was an innovative song for it's time...and yes it did bring RAP/Hip-hop to the mainstream, that is fact, history... period.
Of course that song sounds juvenile, now... most rap songs on the radio sounded like that in the early 80's. Will knows his music history... unlike most of you.
If Iggy was black, but still had the same songs and image nothing would be said...the hypocrisy! Racist's screaming damn racism! It's comical!

Has sis donated, joined a rally, marched with a hoodie? Or is she just using race as a means to try and tear down her "opponent" because she was NEVER this annoying earlier this year.
And of course this is what AB and her stans keep trying to overlook. AB is using a serious matter as a way to air out her own personal vindetta against Iggy, yet she's actually not done a DAMN thing for the movement.

Finally someone that gets it lol I've been saying that since this whole thing started...like how does Iggy fit into what happened to Eric Garner.

No, that song was not the sole song responsible for bringing it to the mainstream, it takes more than one song to push a genre. The fact you seem to think it's "a fact" is just another example of whitewashing.
