And tbh, I don't really see Iggy as blatant appropriator ala Miley or Beiber or Ke$ha, b/c she came up through the rap game like everyone else and clearly has a respect for it. But the way she refuses acknowledge her fast track is annoying. She was first female ever to be on XXL freshman issue after ONE mixtape. She was given Rihanna;s budget by Def Jam over artists who had been there for years based purely on marketability. She knows these things but still acts dumb.
you cant really blame iggy though , if she was in fact fast tracked on skin color (a privilege), then itd be hard for her to comment on that privilege- its usually the ones not receiving the benefits of a privilege that see the advantages/disadvantages. but you could argue that light skinned black girls like rihanna,nicki and beyonce have it easier than their darker skinned peers (which observationally and histrionically they do) yet rih,bey and nicki dont comment on that.

it's not as though we don't know these people but why it doesn't translate into success and people buying their music is the real issue. I feel bad for both because both sides are pawns for different reasons.
