on SNL, there were back up musicians playing some of the instruments, allowing the band to dance more. part of the charm of it is them dancing in the group, if the others cant join him, there isn't much of a point in doing it alone, because they have to play the instruments.
He also asked hundreds screaming fans. I guess that's kinda hard to do for live show.
