Over the past twelve months on Twitter, Katy Perry (@katyperry) has gained an incredible 13 million new followers, while Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber) has gained 11 million, and Taylor Swift (@TaylorSwift13) has gained 10 million.
Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) has gained 9.5 million new followers over the past year, while Justin Timberlake (@JTimberlake) has gained 9.1 million new followers, and Selena Gomez (@SelenaGomez) has gained 7.9 million followers.
As for the final four, Demi Lovato (@DDLovato) and Rihanna (@Rihanna) have gained 6.2 million followers, Britney Spears (@BritneySpears) has gained 6.1 million followers, and One Direction (@OneDirection,) as a collective, have gained 5.5 million new followers.

I never really understood the meaning behind buying fake followers. I mean, I know it's all about "star power" but people already know you're famous so what's the point in inflating it? It's embarrassing for all the big pop girls to have so many followers but then get less than 10k retweets and faves unless their tweet is something special.
