I am reading some comments here and it makes me sad how harsh some of you are against white people... Even if you don't believe it, there are actually white people who believe in equality and have never hurt a black person. I understand black people have suffered too much but please don't generalize and don't attack every single white person on earth

If she said nothing, no one would be criticizing her. There are plenty of people who have remained silent on the subject. It's not like the world is looking to Katy and her opinion on the subject for answers or guidance.

If she used the correct hashtag there would be no reason for anyone of any other ethnic background to be upset about, as the hashtag is in reference to the recent events involving African Americans being killed with no punishments coming out of it. Anyone who tried to act offended by that would be asinine and nothing short of bitter. Complaining for no reason.

It's obvious all lives matter, no matter what color or ethnicty. But this is a specific circumstance.

nah, twitter and tumblr and even i some articles when the question "why *insert artists names here* hasn't talk about it?" appears she's one of the first names that pop up, especially on twitter, she was being dragged a couple of weeks ago for being silent.

This is the first I'm ever hearing of anything of the sort. I still don't think anyone would care if she remained silent on the situation. She has never been a social justice warrior, so it's not like it's to be expected from her. It's appreciated of course. She just should've consulted her team or pondered hard about replacing "Black" with "All". Or she should've used both hashtags, which would've been even better.

Yes, I was. Let me simplify it for you because I know that is the only way you will understand.

For two people who have used black culture like accessories neither of them could respond to this movement about black people facing racial profiling and police brutality with a simple #BlackLivesMatter.

But I'd rather have someone be silent (so many people are already) than try to show faux empathy and dilute the movement and divert it's focus from those actually facing the problem most.
