Its the period around Christmas when all the radio stations start to play all the Christmas songs and year end countdowns also starts during that period.Due to which, all the songs gets negative update during that period.
Now if a song hasn't peaked before the freeze, then when the freeze is over that songs starts to get a huge updates again.

If its not peaked then its ok, it will start to pick up again. If a song starts to drop before the freeze, it doesn't get that much boost. Well it depends on lot of factors but thats what happens to most of the songs.
