I wouldn't say Im out the closet but I wouldn't say Im in either I just don't talk about my personal life because its no one's business. But 2 of 3 of my bestfriends are very flaming gay so...

I mean I went through an "argument" with one of my female cousins whose a strong believer in religion and what not some years ago.
It might seem hard to take but when you're comfortable with who you are the people around you have no choice but to accept it and move on or risk being out of your life.
& if they easily choose to not be in your life then screw them.
It is sad to me that people encourage or caution others to stay in the closet. I get the sentiment because I've been there, but there are greater considerations out there for your own happiness and wellbeing.
I hate to use the cliche "It gets better," but it does. As you get older, you stop caring about what kind of reactions you'd get from some people in your life, including family. At some point, you have to start living for you, and whether you're 16 or 46 having to hide some aspect of who you are like this because of fear will take an awful toll on you. I would never encourage anyone to elect to stay in the closet their whole lives. You may think you would not be able to handle something like this now, but trust me, you grow more resilient over time, whether homophobia is alive or not (which it unfortunately is, but at 18 I refused to let fear of what people think rule my life anymore).
