dropping it out of the blue? I'm here for them announcing the release date a week before it's out. Or like 3 days or something. That keeps the fans hyped + more potential for momentum to not go to waste. But if she surprise released it, then that's just room for comparisons with BEYONCÉ (ie it'll be a mess) which would put a stigma on the album to perform similar to it commercially and critically.
Britney doesn't care if she's compared to Beyoncé, if she does a surprise release or announces it like two or three days before it's actually dropped, it'd help her to get more momentum.
Some other recent tidbits from Timothy_b:
I don't have any info on the quality of the newly recorded material, but there are quite a few gems from the BJ era that didn't make the cut after Will.I.Am took over and him and the label went for a different approach. 1 song produced by Danja and 2 by Darkchild, which do deserve the stamp "Blackout 2.0". I know that A&R for this new project is nearly completed and that no Executive Producer has been assigned, which either means that it's going to be Britney herself or her A&R team at RCA.
If we really get what Britney wants, then it's a mixture of Blackout and BJ. And with BJ I mean the sound of "Don't Cry", "Hold on Tight" and "Perfume".
She has a bunch of demos, but they already decided which are for keeps and which not.
(The songs cut from BJ were) Not just great. Amazing! Very different from the sound that ended up on BJ, but absolute bangers!
A single will be dropped first, definitely! But there are plans to realease the album out of the blue!
(William Orbit) submitted new demos.
Uh oh.

To me, it makes no sense to copy someone that has copied her either and to do it in Q1 the lowest sales period.
I'd rather 1-2 weeks. Jay z had a month and that's fine.
They use to release singles and then put out an album 1 month later.
Her team better not try a surprise release when Rihanna might end up doing the same thing too.
Just get her lazy self to promote it for a week or two.

!!!!!!!!!
It'll fail.
The BEYONCÉ method has already proven to be a failure; it was heavily front-loaded and couldn't outsell P!nk, Taylor, Rihanna or Emeli Sandé.
Plus we have to be honest and say that Britney does not generate the hype she used to anymore. Femme Fatale killed her momentum and Britney Jean buried it. She needs a good first single. That's all. The material has to speak for itself. Her sound hasn't changed in like, 7 years and people are tired of her releasing the same crap (not that it's completely her fault, but still).
Britney really was blowing smoke up our asses saying 1 to 2 years for an album. That'd be next October at the earliest for an album. I'll be really surprised if there isn't an album out before fall...
Now that Iggy confirmed she did record with Britney and that they are re-doing some of the BJ sessions, they'll be able to get this album really pretty quickly. Chances are they're hopinh the GM song is big enough to help push Britney's next era and if it's coming in the spring then there's no way RCA is going to wait more than 2 or 3 months (after it's initial release date) before getting solo Britney stuff out.
So a producer named PJ Bianco has worked with Britney before and has at least one Britney demo. Apparently it's terrible, but I still want it. I'm going back into stealth mode this weak to track him down and see if I can get him to post it.

Yep. She needs a smash...and then she can recover based on quality promo. She doesn't need to perform.
She needs to kill it in videos visually iconic and choreography
She needs to show her personality in interviews and show how residency is an amazing success
We lucked out to get one iconic hit Work btch but she needs to have clear iconic moments not based on sheer luck

You just posted how I've felt about Britney since 2011. She's been releasing the same type of music since she came back with Circus. As I stated on a poll earlier today or yesterday, two of Britney's best albums were done without Max Martin, I need her to work with new producers, people with fresh ideas... And of course, why not bringing some of her old friends? Danja and Darkchild.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Moroder song essentially serving as the lead. If they really have plans for a video and a possible radio deal + iTunes banner and YouTube (lyrics video etc), then that's all you need to start off a single. Song in January or February, second single a week before the album, which could come in June or late May. That's a slow period so that should definitely guarantee good debuts (ie top ten) placements globally. And it won't be nearly THREE years since the release of her last album like it was with Britney Jean and Femme Fatale. And I remember saying that Scream and Shout's huge success would create momentum for B8 but not only was it released over a year before the actual album, but was kinda spearheaded by the flop that was Ooh La La. Not to mention the fact that it wasn't directly attached with Britney Jean. The Moroder track, if it does well, would definitely be linked with B9 simply due to the proximity of its release with the actual album (possibly) and it's possible inclusion on her album too since it will probably be a solo track (not like w/ S&S where will.i.am did do a large portion of it, not nearly the same as doing ALL of it).
I mean, I don't necessarily expect this album to outdo Britney Jean, but if it does the same as it commercially and is WAY better critically and quality-wise the I guess it's all good. I know saying that isn't optimistic since we're all hoping for at least Gold and 1M WW, but I don't wanna talk numbers since it always backfires and it NEVER is close to what I expect so it's useless.
I'm actually expecting her to work with Moroder in a few tracks on the next album. It'd be great for Britney, even though I was hoping she would take that urban route she's been talking about since 2010. As you said, she'd need a radio deal, YouTube and promotion in a few TV shows to get some momentum.
At this point, I'm not even expecting the next album to hit Gold or 1 million copies worldwide, all I want is critical acclaim, an album that shows the world Britney Spears is really an artist.

Um almost everything you say I agree with but I do expect her next album to sell more than 260k if she has hits and she starts off with a big lead single.
Do people really think this is the end? Like WTF.
She made a misstep.
Had one flop album out of 8.
At this point I want gold...maybe platinum after awhile if with multiple smashes.
I think she can achieve gold with her remaining albums.

Yeah, that urban route is played. Urban music is horrible now. Hip hop and r&b no longer have a definitive sound which is why they are trying to blend all this crap together to get crossover appeal.
Plus dark horse did what it did.
At this point, I'm here for Britney bringing the moroder sound as something different...not sure it'd be fresh but it could at least be different.
I'm here for Britney doing the dr. luke thing (play on words) but also working with producers she hasn't dealt with before.
At this point, all I ask is
1) at least one iconic hit per era (i.e. Baby one more time, oops, slave, toxic, gimme more, mp, circus, 3, till the world ends, work btch)
2) 2 more platinum shipped albums 2 more gold albums in her contract
3) 1-2 top 10s per era
4) 1 multiplatinum selling song and gold/platinum selling follow ups
5) streaming giving it an additional platinum cert
6) videos that are memorable and iconic.
Not expecting #1 after #1, multiplatinum albums, 5M seller singles, iconic award show performances...nah

She's had an underperformance and a flop. Femme Fatale wasn't big or huge, it was just an album that got three top 10 hits. It hasn't even sold 800k in the US or 2 million worldwide. It's not the end, but artists like Iggy or Ariana have been performing everywhere since they released their respective first singles this year and they haven't even managed to hit 400k, which is sad. Britney doesn't care about promoting and if she doesn't promote her upcoming effort, I hardly see that album selling over 260k. That's why I stated all I want is critical acclaim.

She will have to do iconic performances at award shows if she wants a platinum shipped album at the very least. Industry has changed, we're not in 2007 anymore, when all she needed was her iconic status to sell.

I don't know. I WANT it, but I have no reason to expect it. Britney's declining sales are so precipitous, one day she went from 500k to 275k to 107k. Those are steep and I wouldn't be surprised if she can go lower. Increasing sales are the result of two things - good music and proper marketing (including promotion). Both of them are rather up in the air with Britney atm. I mean, obviously I'd love to be wrong and I already said that this isn't the end for Britney as an artist AT ALL and I do believe she has plenty of albums left in her to treat us with, but, commercially speaking, she's been ready to throw in the towel for quite a while.
The only people I trust to actually care about sales (and do something about it) are her record label and A&R team, but it seems like both have their eyes set on other ventures.

I understand your point I just don't think that her next album will sell 260k or less.
BJ flopped and it could have gotten closer to 300k if not crossed it had they released one or two more singles.
If she has a hit lead single then I think things will be fine.
No one needs to see her perform on award shows to be swayed to buy her album.
Work btch was very polarizing and more for a certain audience.
She needs a hit single that appeals to a wider audience and I think it will help.
i also don't think she has no chance of selling more than 115k first week.
She's more than capable of doing that with a hit single.
I think people don't understand the impact of aligning with Britney when she has a hit and when she has a underperforming yet iconic hit.
I really hope things are correct this next era.

Not true IMO. The industry has changed but she does have a fanbase...unfortunately many of the fanbase are pretentious and want to co sign Britney if she's aligned with a hit but not with a flop or underperformer.
It doesn't help that she doesn't try to act like she cares.
Had she put out an album in May 2013 after scream and shout I doubt she would have only sold around 115k and barely crossed 260k...
She's a pop artist and when things seem bad, people jump ship.
For instance many thought Vegas residency was the kiss of death add underperofmring iconic work btch and no substantial promo...BJ hada lot going against it.
now people see Vegas Residency as a success and not view her as a hasbeen, she doesn't need to perform at the grammy's, VMAs, AMAs but she does need to have key promo: commercials, documentary, a couple of radio, night show and daytime interviews with a hit single and video will make a difference. All this can serve as promo after the interviewers talk about the success of residency, the extension, others following her lead, her being the first of the 2000s generation as well as the first to do it while still having hits on the radio not waiting until she could no longer chart and her excitement of adding more songs to the show and taping it so prior attendees will be enticed to go as well as others holding out for other reasons.
I think we will see the difference in image and impact post Residency success vs. Pre residency doubt for success/alignment with hasbeen territory...which has been squashed.
But none of that will matter if she doesn't start off with the right song and follow through with a good album. Doesn't need to be great just good.
BJ is the first album that just doesn't feel like a Britney album.
The genius about Britney is that unlike many artist many of her best songs are not the singles.
Singles are the most commercial songs that tell the Britney story at the moment.
Outside of Baby one more time, slave, toxic her albums have had singles that were far better
Some being singles that had commercial appeal and told the britney story but for some reason were not singles:
- One kiss from you or When ur eyes say it (instead of DLMBTLTK), What u see is what you get, Lonely/cinderella/what it's like to be me as last singles, Breathe on me as 5th single, boom boom (instead of outrageous), shadow as closer single, brave new girl as promo single, heaven on earth, get naked, toy solider, perfect lover, why should i be sad, shattered glass, unusual you, how i roll? seal it with a kiss, he about to lose me, up n down, etc.
Others not having commercial appeal and telling the britney story at the moment but still better than many single choices:
-I will be there, don't go knocking on my door, where are you now?, anticipating, that's where you take me, the hookup, early mornin' blur, phonography, drop dead beautiful, trip to your heart, etc.
