JFC, what a boring fourth quarter for pop music.

I guess I keep forgetting that Hot N Cold was so huge in the US, too... I mean even though it peaked at #3, it probably was a bigger hit than IKAG, right? It was just blocked by two massive T.I. songs. I love it, and gave it a 9, but I guess I didn't know that it'd stand the test of time with so many other Kats like it clearly has.
Iconic song.

I love OctaHate, too. I just remember at the time thinking "IKAG" was stupid (the VMAs in between performances didn't help) and she'd be a one hit wonder, and then "Hot N Cold" came on the radio and it really clicked. I get it, though...the novelty single coming first. You're probably too young, but it reminds me of "Wannabe" and its follow-up, "Say You'll Be There."

So my average was just about 8? That sounds about right. Would have been closer to 9 had I given Ur So Gay a score. I'd probably actually rank it like 5.5 or 6.

I've loved OctaHate since I first heard it back in June. I love how fresh it is, it's just an enjoyable listen. But then I was cleaning up my iTunes the other day and realised that I still hadn't listened to her EP so I decided to and I fell in love all over again... "Sail On" is so powerful.
I loved I Kissed A Girl. Back then I didn't even know what one hit wonders were and I just knew that I liked the song, so when OOTB came out my sister and I listened to it. We both loved Hot N Cold and new that it would be a single, and of course it was and really made her a name.
And yeah, I do remember those tracks, Wannabe especially. I never really was much for the Spice Girls, but I did kind of enjoy Wannabe.

Can't stand them both. I'm sorry I obviously voted way less generously than everyone else, but I'm just a casual Katy fan - not a superstan. A lot of her songs I don't like. Pretty sure I gave "Dark Horse" a super low score because I detest that song, so don't come for me.

That all being said, I obviously voted unforgivably low for some songs and it makes me look like a big pressed hater. But that being said, ya'll gave way too many 8's and 9's away. "Dark Horse" is a travesty and had it flopped and been left as an album track, ya'll would hate it.

Its good to have a nonstan in here, it helps regulate the scores a bit

I've never loved it. Kind of like Birthday, once it was a single, I got into it, but I was really annoyed with her for choosing it initially. Plus she looks kinda low-key hideous on the single cover. No shade.
My Teenage Dream experience was kind of odd. It was the era that really turned me into someone who checked for music, well that and Kesha's Animal era. Back in 2010 I was still somewhat reliant on my sister to tell me about new music that she liked. She was in her final year of high-school and I was just starting, so she knew all of the "cool" music. That's kind of how I got into many of the artists that I still like today, including Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
Anyway, I didn't even know that Katy had a new single out until I was browsing YouTube and in the suggested videos was the audio for California Gurls. At first I thought it was fake, but then I looked it up and realised it was her "new song" (as the GP likes to call ALL of Katy's singles, even if it's the fifth single). I was hooked on the first listen. After months of replaying Cali Gurls, perched for the music video and whatnot, Katy put up the countdown for TD on her website. I checked every single day for news. Then when Teenage Dream the song was released, I got it straight away and played it on repeat in my bed that night, along with Cali Gurls. I was a stan and I didn't even realise it.
So I naturally got the album, and I LOVED it so so much. My favourite tracks were California Gurls and Teenage Dream obviously, as well as Last Friday Night, Peacock and The One That Got Away. So when Katy announced Firework as the new single, I was so devastated, because I didn't even like the song that much.
Anyway, there's a brief insight into the life of a Katy stan prior to understanding what stanning was. Perhaps I'll write a book some day.
