Of course, box office is a huge player, but acclaim and praise is a bigger indiator to one's success in Hollywood than in the music industry. And don't forget a movie could make $200M or even $300M and it's not profitable. All of Jake's last four movies weren't huge sellers, but they were independent (or semi-independent) movies.
End of Watch - budget $7.5M, huge box-office success with $53M, positive critical response. Jake was executive producer.
Prisoners - budget $46M, box office $122M, critically acclaimed, many praising Jake's performance, even getting Oscar buzz.
Enemy - unknown budget, but was independent so most likely made the money back. Performance praised by critics.
Nightcrawler - budget $8.5M and its already at $24.5M in the box office in its second week run. Critically acclaimed, especially Jake, getting Oscar buzz for possibly the best performance of his career. 94% at Rotten Tomatoes.
Now tell me that's not a positive career change after Prince of Persia and Love and Other Drugs.
Taylor ha power, getting Jake ha critical acclaim
