Mediatraffic doesn't include some Asian markets, it had BTW at 5.4M for 2011 with almost 7M shipped. Albums out for 6 months aren't that heavily shipped compared to sales, the gap would normally be closer to 1M hence BTW is likely closer to 7M than 6.5M. ARTPOP is more than likely right around 2M in sales with 2.5-2.7M shipped but prepare to be dragged for daring to overestimate mediatraffic by 100K.
I think 2.3M albums is based on shipments, because she did say her album had sold around 2 million copies when ARTPOP was around like a week old, which she did, to retailers.
I think around 1.8M-2M is plausible, I don't know about 2.3M. We need reliable receipts for WW sales.
