Beginning my own
ARTPOP listening party and my thoughts, will post in bits, more later. Gotta get that post count up

:
1. "Aura"
The intro is EVERYTHING. You just have no idea where the song is going to go. This feeling lasts for most of the song to be honest - it's just like "what is going on with this song?!" and you never really know, it doesn't have a really stable sound? It's almost more of an intro than a solid song. Mess at Gaga wanting it as the lead single. Of course the "Enigma popstar is fun..." breakdown is one of the most legendary moments on the album. I also like the voice of the "Dance. Sex. Art. Pop." bit, it's nicely synthed. Kii at people who think the quality is anything but superb, because it is. Buy some new headphones tbh. The ending is quite succint, how it just crashes down from that annoying burquuaaaAAAAAAAAA sound, and then reduces to the beat.
2. "Venus"
I think we were all like "WTF is this song?" when we first heard the first verse and were like "did she just say garden panty? Dafuq?" But then suddenly the build up the chorus appears, and she is SERVING vocals in the "I can't help the way I'm feeling" bridge. Then suddenly the chorus just EXPLODES with that fantastic line "When you touch me I die just a little inside" which is SUCH a pop moment in of itself. Then the whole "galaxy, space and time" just gives it this universally sized feeling. It's such a twist on a love song, because it is at its heart simply that, but it's so wacky, zany and out-there. A real Gaga classic. The naming of the planets is a biT boring, but luckily she spits out the words in an intriguing enough way and I remember just KNOWING something would be going on with uranus, and sure enough "Don't you know my ass is famous!" comes along. Oh I forgot to praise the heavenly "this could be loooOOOOoooOOOOOOOOoooovvveee" bit, obviously pure vocal legendary at work and the slayage couldn't be more.
3. "G.U.Y."
It's obviously my avatar so I definitely have some love for this song. From the second I heard the snippet I knew my wig was being freshly ripped off the minute I heard it, and I was right. The beat hits hard, the lyrics are snappy, and the video was obviously one of Gaga's best - and the most beautiful she's ever looked! Anyone that listens to the chorus and doesn't crank out the "I wanna be that G.U.Y." choreo is mentally disturbed. I just love how it's repeated too, like she
really wants to be under you. In a lot of ways this song is even sexier than "Sexxx Dreams" because it's so forward. I like the "touch me touch me please retweet" line cause it's clever (alluding to "69" obvi) and also because it's very of this moment. A shame she wasn't the twitter queen at the time. The part when she's rambling about "as sun and moon come into full phase" (or something like that) is also pretty iconic. It's really such a catchy song, and why the tasteless G.P. didn't get into I'll never know.
4. "Sexxx Dreams"
Hello, this is obviously an album highlight. The intro is a biT bland, but the minute "Heard your boyfriend was away this weekend" arrives, suddenly you know exactly where the song is coming - and I love that it remains about thoughts and dreams, and despite everything she is just left there with herself and her thoughts. We've all been there - and that's really erotic in a way! A refreshing take on a sexy song in some ways. Plus when the music kicks in for the "Last night, damn you were in my sex dreams" it has this really groovy little drop and it just makes me feel like grinding on the floor and getting nasty. Her little spoken bit about "I can't believe I'm telling you this but I've had a couple drinks and, oh my god..." is SO cute and it literally gives me 45.6% more life than I had before. Queen! Tomorrow when I run into you indeed.
5. "Jewels N' Drugs"
Okay this song is obviously a travesty, but let's give it the time of day. Okay first of all the song is GOOD, but is so alienating to the majority of Gaga's fans it's just like - really? God even knows what they're rapping about, but her chorus "I don't want your jewels I want your drugs, don't want your money, want your love" just seems like a substandard lyric. I know she wants to be seen as someone that will dabble in any field and do anything, but please Gaga, keep it at least a biT commercial or at the very least listenable.
Part 2 coming soon.
