I don't believe that my perception is muddied. Perhaps my choice of words muddies what I'm trying to say? I agree with you; any artist would enjoy attaining more success, including K$. But when you compare her marketing efforts to those of the other girls who roll out huge campaigns and conduct publicity stunts to move units and build star power, there's a clear difference. Whilst she drank piss on her TV show and told ghost stories, Kesha never pulled any HUGE moves to create a spectacle. That's the reason why I believe she was comfortable. She was successful without having to do anything drastic.
And it's no surprise that she was humble with "TiK ToK". It was her debut single and first hit. She still had a lot to prove. Most artists develop big egos when they actually experience sustained success. That's when it gets to their heads.
Very true. Although we don't know everything that happened behind the scenes, there could have been things that Luke wanted Kesha to do that she didn't. Kesha's whole image of her being a party girl was arguably her and Dr. Luke's way of building star power, and it worked. At least for her first era. But Kesha didn't want to do it anymore so it came off feeling inauthentic in the end. That's just my take on it.

It's been posted before and that article is probably inaccurate. Those sales are inflated and songs like Rolling In The Deep have sold more than TiK ToK. It's still one of the best selling songs though
