I dont think he is the best producer... in all honesty im not here for 90% of what he makes but I am enjoying his latest productions, thats all.
I actually really, really love Lover and it has so much potential so completely slay, I think the vocals need to be layered and edited in a lot of bits and I think there needs to be more bits with less production and just her vocals over some ambient sounds. I think Greg Kurstin and/or Diplo should give it a makeover.

Lover kind of goes know where to me, like there are parts where it sort of does, but like not enough. If that makes sense

Thats what I mean, there needs to be a better range of fast-paced bits and softer, slower more vulnerable bits.

We've been disagreeing a lot lately and I don't like it.

Boycotting her Luke work is silly. I can understand not wanting to buy his newer work, but this is all old music. If you've already bought her albums (which I assume all of us should have), then you've already contributed to what Luke cares about, money. By playing the songs you are making no harm. Regardless, that is all in the past anyway and doesn't really give a reason to not listen to her music. It's not like Kesha has said to not listen to parts of her music. She makes it to please us and, in the end, it's still hers anyway, not Luke's. Still, there are countless other producers who contributed to the work which involved Luke, for example Matt Squire doing most of the work on Ditry Love, despite Luke still being credited first. We really don't know, so it's silly to just boycott all of that, especially when it is the majority.
|
I agree with this completely. Boycotting "Dr. Luke" songs is stupid especially when we know how little he puts into her other works (i.e. My Crazy Beautiful Life TV Show) and who knows how much of the songwriting / production he actually did since there's always at least 2-4 other co-writers and producers on every Luke track. They're all still Kesha songs anyway, she's the artist.

I disagree completely.
Although I do enjoy the album, there are clear standouts. They would be 2 On, All Hands On Deck, Feels Like Vegas, Wildfire and low-key Cold Sweat and Pretend.

It's not insensitive at all, but I disagree completely. The only good things about Luke's most recent songs have been the vocalists tbh. "Can't Stop Dancing" is a perfect example of songs that go nowhere, too. I like Becky and the song is catchy but it's so flatline.

I disagree completely. The song is solid and really doesn't feel like 5:05 in length. Even as a demo it's better than anything Luke's done recently. Just me tho.

Part of its appeal i feel though is because its so different to anything she has done before, I mean the same song leaked by Ellie Goulding or Lana it would not be getting nearly as much praise, not saying its a good song but just an observation. However you can't deny its a little rough around the edges but I enjoy it for what it is and hope that it is purely an indication of where she is headed with her next album (if we will ever hear it that is).
On another note, was anyone else surprised when they first found out Kesha was still fighting to get out of her contract, I mean over the months leading up to the suit both parties had unfollowed each other on twitter, instagram etc.. Its a real shame that Luke is too cruel to release her, however once she is released I hope she follows up on pressing charges on him, he deserves to be punished.

"Lover" has received a lot of praise on this forum (from fans and casual listeners), but I think people are flocking to it because it's the first thing we've heard from her in a while. It's like ATRL circa June 2012 when the "Supernatural" snippet surfaced.
As with the "Supernatural" case, the album ended up with much better tracks.
Nevertheless, it's a good indicator of what sound she could venture into.
But I just don't think it's as groundbreaking for me as what others claim.

Or perhaps some people just genuinely like the song. "Supernatural" is still Top 5 on Warrior for me. I'm not just going to say I like something just because it's new Kesha if I don't like it. I was unsure about "Die Young" and "Roar" at first, and they're certainly not my faves on their respective albums, whereas I LOVED "Applause" from first listen and it's still one of the only great tracks on ARTPOP. I like everything about "Lover", whether the vocals are rough or not really doesn't matter to me because it's just a demo, if it was a single I may think differently.
Anyway, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm excited for Pitbull's new album since it has Bebe Rexha and Chloe Angelides on it.

But to be fair Supernatural (the whole song) did not live up to expectations.

I don't think people is prasing it just beacuse we haven't heard Kesha in a while, I actually agree 100% with what CroNich said in the post above yours, it's a new sound for her. Some haters were recognising they did like it because sounded different and more mature

That's sad but true. When I finally got to listen to it in full, I was disappointed by the verses.
But it's still a highlight from the album imo.

Supernatural is so overproduced and her vocals in the choruses are just drowning in a sea of filters. It's a good song tho the last chorus slays

Anyway, you guys are all so basic if you can only get into the uptempo Rihanna rejects of Tinashes album. The rest of the album (and her mixtapes) are great R&B
