Let me tell you why, UNLIKE some other female popstars, JLO always credited other people.
She did not change one word and say "i wrote this song"
You can even see Ashanti in the video, and Christina Milan had many interviews that she say JLo is her icon and she's great that she did the song etc.
Thisss!
I remember reading somewhere that Ashanti wanted to record "Ain't It Funny" [Remix] but she never threw shade at the Latin Queen. In fact she praised her.
Also, at the time she was relatively unknown and I'm sure they told her as well as she knew that she can cash in on the record at the end of the day.
And to the one who said she never agreed. Well then she had every right to sue them but she didn't. I'm sure she was very well paid.
I will incriminate my own fave here too so as to not be one-sided.
In Check On It, the second verse is not Beyoncé but it is Kelly Rowland.
The difference there was that it was meant to be a DC song and then got changed to just Beyoncé for the Pink Panther soundtrack. I am confused as to why she couldn't have just re-recorded it and I don't agree at all with the decision, but given the dust Beyoncé has paid this #1, it seems clear she never took this song seriously.
The weird thing is it's done like a duet. I love that they didn't even bother with Michele
Didn't Bey still do the falsetto? And I'm still pissed she paid that song dust. It's really one of her defining hits and one of the GP's favorite song of hers.
I don't think anyone cared her because it was a licensing issue. The song was definitely a DC3 reject and Kelly was supposed to be on, but she was busy smashing with "Dilemma" and getting ready to follow it up with an album. She had even less time for COI than Bey

I think you have your dates mixed up. Those songs are 4 years apart.
Damn sis. Why you being so hostile... I apologize that I did not know this. However it all still seems shady. And don't get me wrong, I was a huge J Lo fan back in the day. I bought physical copies of J Lo, J To Tha Lo Remixes, and This Is Me... Then when they came out.
It's ok that you didn't know but still try to figure out if it's really that way. Most of the artists back then had back up singers doing the most part. Britney and so on. JLo improved however and I guess that's really what matters now.

That's a silly rumor, Kelly was never on that song. The verses are sang in a staccato fashion, which is more of Beyoncé's vocsl styling, than Kelly's. Plus Beyoncé husky tone is unmistakable. That rumor is as tired and late as the rumor of Beyoncé being allergic to fragrances.
I've never viewed her as a real musician tbh, just another mediocre celebrity who does anything but couldn't be best at them. If she was heavily involved in creating her music, she'd have known about all these and avoided using the songs/vocals or at least she could've given credit to the original composers (tho some JLo fans above suggest she did). I just can't at her lipping the parts as if the vocals are hers

That's worse and real dishonesty! The song could have credited as DC3 on the soundtrack and the single release, but it was a career vehice for Beyonce since she was in the movie and had an album coming out soon. Kelly sang a whole verse and wasn't even credited like J.Lo's back up singers are. J.Lo, Ashley Tisdale, Nicki. Rihanna and Britney sing their songs, but their back up vocalists drown them out while they're squeaking in the background. It's not the same as using a group's song and releasing it as a solo single.

Maybe for a fan it's obvious that she didn't sing these all herself, but to everyone else it didn't come off that way. There is no agenda here. If you want to go on thinking it's cool that a singer uses voices in her work that sound enough like her that most people didn't notice, have fun.
But just like most people don't know that this is not the singer of Blackbox, but the face, the GP aren't really aware of J.Lo using other voices either.
For the last time Ashanti, Milian and the other J.Lo back up singers do not sound anything like J.Lo. It's ridiculous that anyone can say that the deep voiced lady in the chorus of If You Had My Love and I'm Gonna Be Alright is supposed to passed off as J.Lo when the main vocals in the song are paper thin. Anyone who really thought there was no back up vocalists there mist be really ignorant. Did you think Britney was the deep voice in the chorus of Baby One More Time and Oops I Did It Again too?
The Blackbox, Milli Vanilli and Real McCoy things are not the same. People sang the whole songs and other lipped it for the videos. J.Lo actually sings most of the song, but the back up vocalists are prominently featured in the choruses and bridges because her voice is weak as hell.

They're not ghost singers if they're credited back up vocalists and J.Lo is actually singing most of the song. Ghost singers are like the Milli Vanilli drama. And which J.Lo hits were snatched from which artists? The Usher demo waa rejected by Usher and then given to J.Lo's team. That's not snatching and that's the way it works. When a song gets rejected, it moves to another artist for consideration.

They did credit them. Ashanti and Milian are credited for writing and back up vocals. Some of you acting like they stole the songs for J.Lo. Ashanti was hired to write parts of the songs and that's how she got her record deal.
The difference though is that Ester Dean was credited and its pretty well known.
Rihanna got away with Where Have You Been where Ester Dean vocals are all over it too.
And as said Swissman if you're actually looking up the credit of Beyoncé's Check On It Kelly & Michelle are credited as background singer, when Kelly is all over the second verse.
