It's unrelatable because the verses talk about art, pop culture, Jeff Koons, etc. Also, while the chorus can be relatable if you look for it, most people took the lyrics at face value / didn't bother looking for layered meanings. Applause IS unrelatable.
The fact that this base HAS to believe that any criticism thrown towards Gaga is because of her lack of success / unfair is the actual reason this base has become the pits. Y'all are the Queens/Kings of excuses.
Jeez, really starting to understand some people who I thought were debbie-downers. Some posts in here are so delusional it's infuriating.

Besides, does it really have to be relatable? Some tunes are just great bops and to those kind of songs nobody really pays attention to the lyrics but they all just go off at the hook.
It's stans mostly that will stop and actually listen. She has songs (like Dope) that are really there for the heart feel. A pplause is an epic bop which I prefere over a cliche riddled cheesy song any day

This I can totally agree with. My friends hated Applause for being unrelatable and I was like "So what? how can you NOT bop?!"
