Bare in mind Katy Perry released timely videos with all her singles whereas Rihanna waited 6 months to release Pour It Up video, neither were her other videos half as timely as Katy's and not all of her singles got the video treatment.
Lest I forget, Rihanna didn't go to the extremes of sending cakes to hundreds of radio stations in promoting her singles, therefore I ask how can you even compare the amount of promotion for their singles

Prism is bigger than Unapologetic in terms of singles, tour, and considering the fact that album sales aren't as high anymore, that too.

The fact that Katy had roughly FOUR times more promo should be considered.
And still, UA era was bigger.

I think people are forgetting that Rihanna was on her 5th tour and Katy's on her 3rd tour.
It took Madonna over 20 years to get her best grossing tour, it doesn't just happen within the first or second tour.
Regardless, Katy is on her way to outgrossing Rihanna's diamond tour. She just had more demand, and she'll have even more demand once the superbowl is done.
Single wise Katy takes the edge as she's not done with her era and Roar/DH seemed to have sold more than Stay/Diamonds.
Album sales are equal.
Katy dominates in streaming.
It's safe to say Katy wins this era.

Both of them had massive promo and massive singles...
Katy's tour is doing better than DWTs... and she has the Superbowl coming, which will just be the cherry on top to end the Prism era.
Sorry dears.
PRISM >>>>> Unapologetic.
Ain't no escaping this clear fact
|
to sum up
they sold the same amount of albums but Katy destroyed Riri in singles sales, streaming, radio and touring

Out of those Katy had 18 promo spots as opposed to Rih's 11 and some of the ones you listed weren't even televised. 7 more performances don't really add up to how much bigger Roar/DH were than UA's singles.
|
The question was whether Prism was more promoted than Unapologetic, of which it was. Concerts do count as a form of promotion, let's not forget she performed a chunk off her album at the ITunes festival.
Nonetheless Prism had double the amount of performances Unapologetic had and y'all claim Katy "didn't promote"?!!
Bye!

Yes. More youtube views, more successful singles, more albums sold and her tour is on track to outgross the unapologetic tour (or whatever it was called)

Das what I am saying too. UA had minimal promotion compared to prism and yet IMO it performed way better and was a bigger event than prism was

It did, and since the Katycats love IFPI as source, according to IFPI Prism did 2.8M while UNAPOLOGETIC did 4.1M, a 1.3 million difference in copies sold.
Did I remark that the album was able to do it with way less promo?

Prism was bigger.
Will you guys top with this promo nonsense. Roar debuted with 560k sales with no performances, Dark Horse was slaying the charts left and right before it was even released as a single. Staph.

Okay this thread is way off topic. The question is which era was igger than the other which means taking into account streaming, album sales, single sales, tours etc....
Whether or not Rihanna promoted more or less is and always has been irrelevant. The facts are DH and Roar where bigger hits, the facts are The Prism Tour has more demand and is on track to gross higher etc.... Therefore Katy wins

We have done this thread literally like five times. PRISM always edges out UA.

PRISM. Especially now that she's added the SB to this era.

Those are shipments, not sales, read the IFPI report.
If you actually look through certifications, Prism sold more.

But you said those were shipments and hence if we use IFPI, the Katycats reliable source, then she sold less.
Anyway there isn't one reliable source that has figures of Prism selling more than Unapologetic
