But the last 7 days of those 17 her album was avaibleeverywhere and her name was everywhere around the media too. Almost every single TV show talked about her and her release, is that what I find funny, that you think that that's not promo

Well no, by definition that is not promotion that is conversation. Conversation is something that all albums have the ability to generate. The fact that BEYONCÉ successful did that should not be held against it, unless we want to say that 1989 being talked about on blogs this week is promotion, in which case the playing fields are as equal as they were before.

Of course BEYONCÉ did not have zero promotion, it had very very minimal promotion (banners and such) that only happened at the moment of release, compared to traditional ones like 1989 where there are several months of promotion.

I'm siding with Beyoncé on this one though. If she had all of Taylor's promo (including that Target deal) and a full week, she would have done 1989 numbers. iTunes only limited her sales.

Taylor by no means changed genres. No one was really that shocked that she converted to pop, there has always been a very clear evolution towards that and of all the genres to brag about changing to it's the most popular, bought and commercial one: POP?!

We're not. The media, music critics, her peers... even created a term "Pulling A Beyonce" or "Pull A Beyonce" google it. To even having a Harvard University study on it. Had several artists trying to pull a Beyonce. Had over 1 million tweets the day of release, on every news station, talk show, countless headlines etc. To where now any artists that does a surprise release it will be labeled as "Pulling A Beyonce". Having articles asking who could "pull a Beyonce".
