And you keep trying to undermine her sales when in comparison Beyoncč is doing damn well. She makes R&B music. She's been in the business since she was 15. She's a mother in her thirties and is being compared to a 25 year old former country star who just released her first full pop album in the height of her career. That speaks volumes.

Nobody is saying that beyonce's achivement is not amazing
just that 1989 is more impressive
BEYONCE took 17 days to cross tthe 1.2M, the mark that Red (and maybe 1989) did in 1 week
with more than 1 week of physical sales and 17 days on itunes

“I have three big surprises for you today,” said Taylor Swift during a massive worldwide livestream for ABC and Yahoo today (Aug. 18), when she announced her new single, new album and new video all in one fell swoop.

It was that "take my money Lord" moment for her base, two months before release.
And don't forget the pre-sell
Quote:
The Pre-Sell Offer
There were two components to the Pre-Sell offer being used:
Three different versions of the album available
Entry in to a competition called the ‘Taylor Swiftstakes.’
Here’s a screenshot showing the pre-sell details and the three different product levels:

And as well as getting one of the album versions on release date, fans who pre-purchased the album were also entered into a draw where there were 1,989 prizes to be won:

She learned a lot from Japan what kind of AKB48 type of promo?

Well, I really don't care
We'll see who sales more in the long run
The funny fact is that you know that BEYONCE sold 1.7M in 11 months (with big promo events like grammy performances and a VMA tribute to her with an extensive performance)
While Taylor will do it in less than 2 months, maybe in 1
But ok, if that's your opinion, enjoy it

Both. Beyonce did 800k in three days with her tenth studio album. Taylor is doing 1.2M+ with her fifth studio album.

Beyoncé cause I almost had a heart attack when I first saw her album up on iTunes out of nowhere, then the incredible and frontload big sales. Everybody already knew Taylor was coming hard for big sales, isn't this her 3rd time outdoing 1M+ copies?

Okay but should we even bother to accumulate the amount of promo Taylor has done for her album before it's even been released? That includes the VMAs just like Beyoncé.
You also forgot to highlight the difference in times of year. Taylor is releasing hers in the coveted fourth quarter, whereas Beyoncé released hers at the tail end of Q4, with most of the era taking part in the lowest sales period, Q1.
Regardless, I do not stan for Beyoncé because of any feats. She could have released BEYONCÉ and sold ten copies and I'd still be as proud of her as I am. I want her to push the boundaries of what is expected. I want her to create what she wants not what she believes the buying public are into. Bragging about a statistic is nothing more than lacking anything of actual substance to brag about. It reveals an insecurity that you must cover up with the validation of purchase history.

Seriosly, though. This is this teenage idol/japanese milking type of release with 1989 to maximize first week sales:
-multiple version of album with bonus content (photos)
-pre-order bonus (instant song download)
-pre-order competition based of chances - the more you buy the more chances you have
like, no gimmick at all. The only other pop act to have this type of promo is 1D, I think. Ironically 1989 has more or less vague links to big pop acts like 1D and Katy. No gimmick at all

Yes they did that in one week but how much promo, how many pre-orders, how many promo-singles did they release in order to get this? It wasn't going to sell that much from just being released with no notice.
Anyway, it's very obvious that Taylor takes a far more commercial approach to releasing her albums (pictured below), but unlike many other popstars who do similar things like Katy, the way that Taylor gains those sales is truly impressive. That is not to be taken away from her at all. She is a sales BEAST. The biggest of her generation for sure.

wow
You are judging me by a thread in a forum
I didn't say that Taylor is better because she sold more, I don't care is she sells more or less, I love the album and that's make me happy enough, I'm happy for her in she sells a lot, but that's not important in my life
And I didn't say anything negative about beyonce AT ALL, I love her and i'm so happy that she had the success she has had the last 11 months
Next time don't try to do a Psycoanalysis of someone based on a post in a pop music forum, i was talking about what the thread is about, simply that.

Red didn't have pre-orders
But really if you think that you are better than me "because i'm obssesed with sales and you don't care at all" and i'm "insecure" why are you still here replying to me?

No, I was not judging you, I was postulating on the idea of statistics-boasting. It came from your comment but wasn't necessarily directed towards you but to all who fight over statistics as if they really mean anything (Who remembers how many hits Judy Garland had or how many #1 albums Frank Sinatra had? No one. They just know their impact).
As far as not saying anything negative about Beyoncé, no, I suppose you did not but laughing at the comparison between a Taylor and a Beyoncé statistic implies it even a little, don't you think?

both are impressive in different ways
it doesn't really make sense to compare any album to self-titled because no other album has been released similarly
1989 and self-titled are polar opposites in 1,000 ways so i'm not sure how/why we would waste time debating this

It looks like I got that one fact wrong then. I apologize. The rest remains the same.
I do not think I am better than you, nor have I ever said you are obsessed with sales. Calm down.

I didn't laugh about her
I find funny that her fans says that she has no promo and that's why it to her 17 days to hit the 1 Million mark (an incredible achivement). I could understand that about the first 3 days
But the last 7 days of those 17 her album was avaibleeverywhere and her name was everywhere around the media too. Almost every single TV show talked about her and her release, is that what I find funny, that you think that that's not promo

beyonce's latest album wasn't really an event and the first 24-hrs sales weren't impressive at all, so i'm gon have 2 say Taylor wins this one!
