TBH, I will always choose TEOG over Applause as a closer, no matter the venue. TEOG is about living life straight to the end with passion and excitement and when the end finally comes, it's a glorious moment. Applause is too self-glamorizing and overindulgent for it to be an effective closer at the Super Bowl.

They used TEOG in a pre-game advert in 2013 and it rose to the 50s on iTunes with that alone. It's just the perfect song for this kind of event.
