I'm sure Gwen would have been crucified too if social media had been that impactful back in 2005. Katy has anti-stanbases following her every second and looking for something to bash her.

Katy and P!nk are the only two pop females who actually have receipts of non-teenage girls enjoying them with their massive success on adult pop radio formats.
I don't think it's even possible to make pop music and for 75% of your fan base to not be teenage girls/gays. Unless the bulk of your success came years ago, then your fans will obviously have grown up.

adult pop radio is not a "proof" of anything
I am not saying older people don't listen to Katy.
Birthday video is embarrassing. Dark Horse deserved a lot better. And Roar was just cringy.
TOTGA was amazing. I give Katy credits where its due. It's not about who is your fanbase. If people knew how many teens are fans of Gaga, they'd be saying that she also caters only to teens. That's not the case tho.
Adele also has fans that are teens and she doesn't cater to teens, neither do Gaga. Katy is clearly part of the 1D, Justin Bieber etc. group of artists that basically cater to teen girls.

So Katy's also investing in the longevity of her career by appealing to children, all the while reaping the benefits of being a current popular act in 2014, breaking records left and right, gaining in star power by the day etc. Genius, tbh! I bet other pop girls wish they'd thought of that.

Also, what's so kiddy about "Unconditionally", "The One That Got Away", "Birthday", "ET", "Waking Up In Vegas", "I Kissed A Girl", "Thinking of You", and "Hot N Cold"?
The fact of the matter is, Katy is being stereotyped by her "Teenage Dream" era look because it had too much impact that they are still living through that era. This just proves how successful and memorable Teenage Dream was no matter how hard they try to shrug off its success.

Actually I think her Fashion style this eraa doesn't help ...
Like her outfit in the iheartradio last year

No, Katy doesn't "bother" me. What kinda silly statement. Lol

Granted the lyrics are mature, but what kind of imagery did she serve up for that song? Exactly.

So what I'm taking this is you believe that...
Humour is childish.
Old people are childish.
Bar Mitzvahs are childish.
Clowns and circuses are childish.
Animal training is a childish profession.
Entertaining children is a childish profession.
Looks like you certainly have some interesting views about comedy, religion and employment.

There's nothing wrong with that. Like seriously leave her alone. That's what she wants her persona to be.
Most people didn't have a problem with Gaga being that weird girl wearing something shocking or something stupid, why is Katy getting the sack while enjoying her music videos?
There's a big difference in LISTENING to Katy's music and SEEING Katy's music. I myself, am not a fan of her music videos sans a few but her music still remains the same for me.
All three albums are pretty good. I still enjoy OOTB regularly. She can be a different person in her music videos if she wants to be. Who are you to tell her to stop acting like that?

I actually find this to be true as well. My niece turns 7 in December and she comes home from school every day and listens to Roar and Let It Go on repeat - people can say "LOL! OMG! SO childish!" all they like, but, she's a kid and she loves it. She has a jungle girl costume and an Elsa costume that she always wears and she dances around the house singing those two songs over and over and over. All the while she has absolutely no idea who Rihanna or Lady Gaga are. Granted, she's only 6 years old, so she's not paying a massive amount of attention to pop culture. But my point is, in 12 years time, she's going to be in her final year of high school, and she will probably look at Roar and Katy Perry's discography with the same amount of love that my friends and I look at 'Baby One More Time' and instantly remember when we were in Year 2 and it was the song that was everywhere. And 12 years from now, my niece will probably still check for Katy Perry, because she was the first artist she fell in love with...as a child.
That's the thing about children. They're the adults of tomorrow. And appealing to the adults of tomorrow only enhances your chances of longevity in my opinion. If you have a niche target market, then you'll only appeal to that niche audience as they get older, rather than expanding your audience.

That CAN be true but even my 11 year old outgrew Katy and thinks she's childish. Her TD album collecting dust now and she's over her. It can go any way really.

AKA: You have receipts? Hahaha, I have opinions, and everyone knows opinions trump receipts.
The fact remains, Gaga, Rihanna etc all only see true success on Top 40 radio (and smaller genre radio when billboard **** up the rules), which is geared to teenagers and young adults whilst Katy and P!nk see success on radio stations geared to appeal to adults and no amount of 'Roars video is set in a jungle!! Only people still being breastfed enjoy jungles!!' can change that fact.
Not every teenager is the same. Just because Katy appeals to people who like having fun and enjoying life whilst Gaga appeals to people who has had a tough life doesn't mean it's impossible for the same age group to enjoy them. Really, most adults have grown out of their 'The world hates me!!' Feelings that Gaga uses as fuel.

I don't even know what the **** she wore there. Most people wouldn't either and even if they do they have probably forgotten it by now so why does ATRL care again?
I'm pretty sure she likes kids so much. There's nothing wrong with that.

In what world have you lived sis
Anyway i don't think it's that big of a problem that Katy is acting childish. But you can clearly see that it's affecting her credibility as an artist. A lot of people think critics grammy etc. doesn't matter (i am not saying it does) but yeah you can see her scores and awards etc. And then you can also see how even tho she is selling decently, her album sales are way less than her peers...
It's really up to her

I can see that Katy appeals to adults tho. BUT SHE is not catering to adults, she is catering to teens What's so hard to understand ? She + her team are catering to teens and it's all on PURPOSE and it's been like that for 5-6 years now.
Catering to someone and targeting your products to a specific group of people, doesn't mean you can't appeal to adults etc.
Let alone that the fact Katy is appealing to teens so much is the main reason she is being played on Adult radio in the first place. Most mothers would prefer to play Katy to their children than Gaga or Rihanna /end.

I meant people on ATRL.
It's embarrassing that OOTB was given a very low metacritic score. It's such a great album. Again, music is subjective and I find that album to be her best.
And her music isn't immature. A lot of her music videos probably are but that doesn't and shouldn't define the album you're listening to.
