NG's Top 30 Joints Of 2008....Presents : Number 10 & 9
10. The Virgins - Private Affair
Released: June 6, 2008.
From the Album : The Virgins
2007: Natasha Bedingfield - Soulmate
2006: T.I. - Why You Wanna
2005: Kanye West Feat. Jamie Foxx - Gold Digger
2004: Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

I remembered hearing
Private Affair through a friend who is very anxious to send me this song for a while, but I never get a chance to let him send me. "Wow." I thought to myself, I would have missed out big time if he didn't send me this song. Starting from a guitar riffs to an immediate car break,
Private Affair sets us up with a great beginning as The Virgins' frontman Donal ******* sings his way into a calming but mesmerizing vocal. The first verse, by then, blows up into the huge rocking chorus. The track proves their stunning ability to blend genres with stabbing riffs in the verses and soaring powerhouse new wave hook. Listening to
Private Affair on the E train going home is a fun experience, I just can't help but tapping my feet along with the beat. The clip for this single is hilarious, it's one of those videos with gritty grainy effects along with ridiculous people doing ridiculous things (in this case, everyone is pretty much stripping their way through the music video.) So beware, watching
Private Affair might leave you dirty and hunger for more of Virgins' music.
9. Estelle Feat. Kanye West - American Boy
Released: March 24, 2008.
From the Album : Shine
2007: Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
2006: Rihanna - Unfaithful
2005: Alicia Keys - Karma
2004: Beyonce - Naughty Girl

American Boy is a record that you just want to jam when you're in a bar with your friends or when you're driving a car down Broadway Boulevard. Teaming up with Will.I.Am & Kanye West gives Estelle an opportunity to create a magical ladies anthem which helps launch her career to Billboard charts. Estelle's vocal is flawless as she sings about how a UK girl like her would take interest in American guys. The chorus is also super catchy and radio friendly as Estelle persuades all the listeners to hum or sing along with her. However, the key part of this track is none other than Kanye's rap verses. Kanye opens the track with a short rap verse as a sample tease. Knowing we want more of his flow, Kanye gives us another longer rap verse in the middle. Kanye raps his way through the track and ends with lyrics that really catches my attention, "So to hell with all that rubbish!" <3 Estelle's smooth vocal plus Kanye's flow and Will.I.Am's melodic beat make
American Boy shines through my year-end chart, and a fun jazzy song that ends up being one of the best pop/R&B tracks of 2008.
More songs from the top ten tomorrow. =D
