I hear Applause on the radio sometimes still so I don't think it was forgotten. Maybe just a tab bit smaller in success next to her other debut singles.
Devoted Little Monsters came to worship at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena last night. But Lady Gaga's performance was as much inspirational speaker as pop sensation
While artRAVE is loud, colourful and frequently emblematic of feel-good, throwaway party times, it seems at the heart of this gargantuan, intangible production that Gaga is trying to forge a deeper connection. For the devoted and infatuated it seems to be effective, for the rest of us it seems merely like a meticulously crafted pop show.
But her latest offering – Artpop – has not received the rave reviews of earlier albums.
Yet you would never know it from the reception that the chart star received from her Brummie followers.
But the singer did wow with a selection of wigs, giant furry wings and a fluorescent green ensemble that wouldn’t have looked out of place on Sesame Street.
There’s no denying that Gaga has got an impressive pair of pipes on her, which she showed off in style with Do What U Want.
She can play the piano too and proved this by tinkling the ivories as she sang Dope and Gypsy.
I have never seen Gaga live before, but after hearing about the set design featuring two caves and connecting transluscent catwalks I was intrigued.
Do y'all still think Applause is forgotten (because it wasn't produced by RedOne and didn't hit #1)? I mean, a year after release, it's still holding impact online thanks to it's music video. From the AHS Freakshow references after the series premiere and now the news kid doing the A-R-T-P-O-P choreography. Why aren't other songs in 2013 that were much bigger still being referenced?
