‘Adele had the first four lines of the song which she brought to the studio with me.
‘She actually played me the beginning of two songs – one which later turned into Rumour Has It, and Someone Like You, and told me to pick between them which is kinda amazing when you think about it.
How on earth can you pick between the two!?
‘When she played me the idea that became Someone Like You, I just could feel that intense emotion. I guess that’s sort of where I want to live as a songwriter, so I picked that one.
We worked solidly for two days, she laughed and told me later that I really pushed her. I wanted every single line to be perfect and everything to be really true and full of soul.
‘I think we ended up pushing each other,’ he reminisces.
So did he realise it would become the colossal hit that it did?
‘Oh, no! I just thought “that was a wonderful experience, I want to see her again!”
‘She told me that the minute we finished and she listened to it in her car, she knew her life was changed.’
‘Even the hardest, toughest dudes that I know are like “oh, your song made me cry, man!”
So is he working with the now Oscar-winning singer on her follow-up record?
‘I couldn’t possibly say… ‘ he says with a (secret) smile.
When attending a Justin Timberlake concert, one has very high expectations – and boy did JT deliver. It was a simple set – a long stage with stairs up the centre and his band stationed on either side. When you're as talented as Timberlake, you don't need a massive production. He offered everything and more.

If there's one word that best describes last night's show, it's flawless. This was easily one of the best concerts I have ever been to, and I could not find one fault in his performance. For those privileged enough to get tickets, you're in for one heck of a show.
Backed by his band and accompanied by a troupe of dancers, he strutted, shimmied, crooned, and belted out hit after hit during a high-energy set that lasted almost two hours.

A slick show, by one of the biggest pop stars of our generation.
The new King of Pop had a deceptively simple, classic stage set-up which had his 15-piece band rising up like a small castle of instruments behind hexagonal band stands, echoing the entertainers of old - except for the mega-wide, beehive-inspired black-and-white backdrop screen. This made Vector feel more intimate than usual, and kept attention firmly where it belonged - on JT.

Timberlake's vocal performance was smooth and snappy, his a capella phrases leaving no doubt about his prowess with a microphone.

A Timberlake show is just as much about those signature dance moves, though, and his precise yet casual approach, replicated by his six dancers, is truly distinctive. The shoulder shrugs, finger snaps, leg flicks, hat tips - they're a charming combination.

While it's the new tunes that really highlight his experimental pop abilities, the older ones are clearly still beloved by the crowds.

The consummate showman is no longer the curly blond baby-face boy-band graduate or simply the guy who brought sexy back, but a timeless performer who's already created quite a legacy in his 33 years. Let's hope it's not seven years before this master of class returns to New Zealand.
Listening to his records is so different - hearing that falsetto live really is something that should be on everyone’s bucket-list. An a cappella introduction truly showcased Justin’s incredible voice in ‘Summer Love’, which lead into ‘LoveStoned’, 'Until The End of Time’, and his rendition of ‘Holy Grail’. To make things even cooler, Justin showed everyone just how talented he was by playing guitar for ‘Not A Bad Thing’, the more downbeat yet groovy current single of his. The harmonies of Justin with his back-up singers were flawless, and this continued into ‘What Goes Around… Comes Around’, a song which showed not only his perfect vocals, but also his suave dance-moves in the second half of the song.

He finished off his 20-song set with an encore of ’SexyBack’ and ‘Mirrors’, two of his most popular songs to date - the audience simultaneously loved it yet didn’t want it to end. During ‘Mirrors’ he asked “someone sing it to me”, and he got all of the entire arena singing the lyrics back to him.

He promised “it won’t be seven more years 'till we come back”, and I’m holding Justin to that.
One studio passed it down because it said JLaw's performance was extremely uneven.
Don't get fooled by the propaganda machine. A lot of critics praise her for the sake of it at this point. And lol @ the Cary Grant/Katharine Hepburn comparison.
Lol, you have now for 20 years the Mena Suvari avi, seems you are a fan of mediocrity.
Les rencontres d'après > Calvary = Under the Skin > Grand Piano > Belle
Les rencontres d'après! It's the kind of music I want to listen to whenever I'm being thoughtful or am writing. Which is what I mainly use film scores for hihi. I occasionally divide them by sound and style so I can get a specific mood too.
Off topic but Mena Suvari is kinda iconic in American Beauty. It still doesn't forgive her horrifying and besmirching performance of Aerith in 'Kingdom Hearts II' tho.

M83 are amazing. Have you listened to them outside of that score?
This isn't off-topic. Yes, that scene/image really is iconic. But woo I had no idea that was her in KH.
