Mega Evolutions feel so cheap now.. it's like they couldn't evolve 3rd stage Pokemon normally without ruining continuity (as if that even matters at this point

) so they turn them into these HIDEOUS steroid monsters that are literally the exact same Pokemon just with a bunch of tacky decals, stickers, props glued on....

Gamefreak needs to get it together because if they thought this was the 'next great idea' for the Pokemon franchise, they were sorely mistaken

Agreed. This is all so inconsistent and poorly thought out. The fact that some Pokemon got TWO megas is just ridiculous. At this rate I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Pikachu got a mega and Raichu was paid dust. And as I mentioned, we're nearing 50 megastones now. As they continue to release more megas, how exactly are we supposed to lug around 100+ stones?

What's annoying is how there seems to be no real logic behind who they pick. Aren't all Pokemon special inside and all that nonsense? I find it hard to believe that only a handful of them have this unexplained capacity to evolve further - especially if Charizard can manage two separate forms and Beedrill can.

the problem with mega evolution its not so much the concept (although i am not too fond of it, i prefer regular evolutions) but they distribution and the actual execution.... When mega evolution was announced i didnt liked it much but i thought that this might be a good idea to boost some pkmn that are in serious need of it and cant evovlve... Pokemon like Beedril and pidgeot!! For me mega evolution for these pkmn was a gift to climb up and be on the same level with most pkmn BUT they start giving mega to already OP pkmn so if Beedril with its lowsy stats could be a decent pkmn with mega now its screwed like before... whats teh point of buffing a low pkmn if u gonna buff the top tier ones too...

Also the selection of abilities are just cringe worthy.... monsters like lucario gets adaptability and blaziken gets speed boost while pidgeot, slowbro and other pokemon in serious need of a big boost got a mediocre at best ability....

i know popular already ou pkmn got mega for advertising purposes BUT that could work way better if mega didnt give necessarily only 100 boost stats!! pokemon with really bad stats need more than 100 boost and strong one good get small boosts...

You're all talk, I just know that if your favorite Pokémon got a Mega you would be creaming yourselves all over the place. GTFO, megas rock and the random way they pick them is weird sometimes but imo Beedril and Pidgeot are good choices. Better than Milotic or Flygon. Megas should make non-used Pokémon usable, not make good Pokémon go UBER and not usable because of that.

I'm not interested in Pidgeot but I'll definitely give M-Beedrill a shot.

The fact of the matter is that quite a few people have complaints regarding the concept and execution of mega evolution. And seeing as this is the thread for all things Pokemon, this'd be the place to discuss it. If you don't like it, ignore it. Stop acting like a child.

Lol I would answer your fancy reply but I'm not even going to bother to explain to you something that has been talked about multiple times in this thread. And seeing as this is the thread for all things Pokémon, I can complain about the same discussion taking place in every other page because it is annoying and unnecessary af. What contradiction? I explained my point, multiple times in this thread in the past. I like Mega Evos and agree with you that some of them are awful choices and make it worst for the players. But the whole concept of Mega Evo started because of nostalgia. The reason why XY has megas is because they wanted to introduce new Pokémon aswell as make the hardcore old fans stay, and they managed to do that perfectly. They can't just stop making Megas and ruin the concept because people are now "tired" of them or think they look like Digimon or think they're abilities are useless. Not everybody plays competitively or even gives a **** about anything else than the design, at all.

What I mean is Megas are not perfect, but they're a lot of fun and lots of people like them. The arguments you're using to prove that Megas shouldn't exist are invalid because the reason why Megas exist NOW, isn't pleasing the hardcore competitive gamers, but the common Pokémon players. Which are, whether you want to admit it or not, children. And children will be happy if Blastoise has 3 cannons instead of 2 and not give a **** if it gets Adaptability as its ability.

It's funny, because Mega Evolutions would be useless competitively when used on pokémon that are already viable, yet when they give a mega to pokémon that aren't viable to make them viable, everyone's complaining about it.

I still like Megas and how you have to choose just one for your team.

Anyways, how many more megas do y'all reckon we'll get? We got I think 28-29 for XY (depending on if you count the Latis), and thus far they've announced 16 for ORAS. Maybe four more?

I think people are doing that due to the fact that more suitable Pokemon have been overlooked (ie those that belong to Hoenn, have had a "counterpart" receive a mega, etc)? I agree with your point though.
