Umm, for starters critics exist outside of Metacritic. Many many reviews were overwhelmingly positive but they just weren't counted. Visit the OP in C2C review thread for more info.

So it is indeed acclaimed.

It debuted @ #1 in the US & WW with sales exceeding almost everyones' expectations and it's looking to sell more 2nd week than ARTPOP with the album being top 10 iTunes/Top 5 physical retailers up until yesterday.

Sales 2 Sales indeed. Seethe away!

Exhibit A of the delusion. Every album receives a lot of positive reviews from publications or blogs that don't count for Metacritic. Cheek to Cheek actually had a lot of mixed and negative reviews that didn't count as well. And all of the reviews that I saw were more than fair and focused on the album. All reviews (positive and negative) have a paragraph or two for exposition to establish context. Gaga fans just assume that anything that follows that happens to be negative is biased solely because of this. If this album, or Artpop, had deserved to be acclaimed like her earlier albums, then they would have been...it's just a mediocre covers album and the majority of reviews and sales reflect that.

You need to do more research on overall reviews. OP of that thread didn't include a lot of the mixed reviews from large publications that I posted for Gaga fans in the reviews thread.

If C2Cs sales are disappointing you wouldn't still be talking about it, and it wouldn't have exceeded the expectations of 90% of the members who voted. Besides, she sold 30-40k less than Ariana who had 2 Top 10 singles, massive streaming and airplay. Considering the sales climate C2C did great and that's a fact.

"Huge" by selling 190k 3 freaking years ago (when albums sold way more) while released after Amy's death and featuring her last ever recorded song. That's what sets a huge album apart from a disappointment? Poor logic!

Also, the reason it struggled against Barbra's 2n week is because she had a VERY abnormal 2nd week drop aka the smallest drop of the last 4 years.

It's not like Barbra's not a damn LEGEND.

Duets II went platinum in a much better sales climate, and for all we know C2C could showcase the same longevity so sit. Tony is a legend sure, but given the fact that he only has 2 #1 albums while Barbra has 1 for each of the last 6(!) decades I think her much bigger sales are warranted.

Kenny Chesney = Country, everyone and their mothers not that country fans are VERY loyal & C2C is showing better longevity AND it managed to outsell Kenny without a hit single (while Chesney had a single out with great sales & is getting radio airplay)
