I don't think that she exceeded the estimates. She didn't do very well tbh. She couldn't have not even one single charting on the top100 and the album will have a 70-80% downfall next week, like Artpop did. Celebrating a number one album by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett isn't something special tbh. She discounted the album in its first week and Interscope (plus Tony's label) promoted it, too, putting all of the label's artists tweet the c2c iTunes link. Tony's last album sold more and not people saying it had gaga in it, when gaga just featured in one song, if I'm not wrong.

I'm sure it's a good album, but don't ignore Tony, OP. It's not Gaga's #1. I guarantee the majority of sales were his fans. It's HIS album.

They estimated 115k-120k just last week, she sold 131k, how did she not exceed them?

How do you know? Is this how you do?

LMAO! Maybe you should first check your lipstick before entering this thread. Tony has 2 solo songs and all other songs are together or even just Gaga.

so it's gaga the reason that he lost about 40.000 copies sold this album in front of his last solo album right? dont you know that we are in historical low music sales year? do you know how many artists got a downfall to their first week sales? do you knwo how many are struggling to sale 500.000 or 1.000.000 or 1.500.000? + you have to know that there are a lot and when a say a lot I mean A LOT of gaga fans that they wont buy the album because the dont like jazz (they better buy it tho) and there are also a lot of gaga fans (also me) that their going to buy on holidays days because its going to be discounted & jazz selling more in those days!

No, it's their album. They equally share the success. Gaga just seems to be getting more praise because she is a pop star, and this is ATRL, where pop stars rule, and also because this is the first time she's released an album that is not pop, which makes its success even more notable.

Doesn't Gaga always get #1 albums? WTF is the big deal with this one? I don't understand the hype from the monsters around it.

HDD estimated that she and Tony would sell 115-125k. They sold 131k.

So it's a bad thing that she and Tony promoted their album?

She DID exceed expectations and estimates. WTH are you even talking about?
Go check out the first weeks sales predictions for C#1C
She did EXTREMELY well with ZERO radio support and we all know how much radios can help.
I'm sure you know that fact very well too.
Wait just a ****ing second, did you seriously expect a JAZZ COVER song to chart in the top100 with ZERO radio support. Their sole intentions with this album was to sell the ALBUM. Jazz/holiday albums don't work like pop albums. Which is why the released as many singles as they could, to let the gp know how incredible the Queen of Pop and Jazz alongside Legend Tony sound on this new record.
Celebrating a #1 for a JAZZ album is a big ****ing deal and we WILL make it a big ****ing deal.
So did Barbra AND Kenny. All three albums were discounted therefore it was basically a battle to see who gets the #1 and T&G snatched it.
That's pure ******** because Ariana, Britney, Andy Cohen, Brian May are NOT her labelmates.
Tony's last album had collaborations with TONS of big names in the music industry (John Mayer, Mariah Carey, Amy Winehouse, Michael Buble, Aretha Franklin, Sheryl Crow, Queen Latifah, Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Faith Hill, Alejandro Sanz AND Carrie Underwood) excluding Gaga PLUS it was released two months AFTER Amy passed away. The single used to promote the album before it was released was Body and Soul which was a duet with Amy Winehouse (of course).

Fume a biT Princey
At the end of the day, Gaga isn't the most liked figure here so I'm not surprised that people run in here trying to discredit her when what she did was good really. I'm not the biggest Gaga fan but even I can see that success outside of one's comfort zone is impressive and should be credited as such.

She wasn't on Tony's last album, Viva Duets, which people have shown the receipts for it not doing as well as this. She was on Duets II, and it was the second single, not just any throwaway track.

It was a joint effort, so I'm inclined to give her credit for about 65k.
