Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has confessed to finding the burqa "confronting" while defending Liberal candidate Ray King for describing the Islamic attire as a "sign of oppression".

"Frankly, it's not the sort of attire that I would like to see widespread in our streets," Mr Abbott told reporters on Saturday, while campaigning in Queensland.

He's a tool but the point Peta Credlin raised I think is a fair one. There's a legitimate argument about banning the burqa in certain public places. It's not about being racist or fuelling hate, it's about identification. I'm not allowed to walk into a bank or Parliament House wearing a motorbike helmet or balaclava, why should someone wearing a burqa be exempt from the same rules that apply to everyone else? No one should get special treatment, regardless of their religious beliefs. People tip toe around this topic so much and I think there's a massive double standard regarding burqa's and other religious headwear. Recently the laws were change in QLD to allow men who wear turbans the right to ride a bike without a helmet. Now if i was to go riding without a helmet and was caught, I'd be fined. The law should apply to everyone, not just the majority. There was a case in NSW last year about a Muslim woman who had a long criminal record getting off because they were unable to successfully identify her.

A compliment I suppose. You're an active music listener and seek it out yourself like I used to. I consume music for longer now so I don't need to very often. I don't listen to her album much nowadays but the Insomnia EP is next level imo. It's very depressing but because of that I identified with it a lot and am probably a bit biased

I know right I used to hate Travis but I was THIRSTY when they did that exercise prank. When they zoomed in and we saw his b*lge for half a second they laughed whilst me and the crowd were getting our life.
