He's a tool but the point Peta Credlin raised I think is a fair one. There's a legitimate argument about banning the burqa in certain public places. It's not about being racist or fuelling hate, it's about identification. I'm not allowed to walk into a bank or Parliament House wearing a motorbike helmet or balaclava, why should someone wearing a burqa be exempt from the same rules that apply to everyone else? No one should get special treatment, regardless of their religious beliefs. People tip toe around this topic so much and I think there's a massive double standard regarding burqa's and other religious headwear. Recently the laws were change in QLD to allow men who wear turbans the right to ride a bike without a helmet. Now if i was to go riding without a helmet and was caught, I'd be fined. The law should apply to everyone, not just the majority. There was a case in NSW last year about a Muslim woman who had a long criminal record getting off because they were unable to successfully identify her.
