I just need DLC characters announced. Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 have some of the best DLC I've ever seen and I need SSB4 to follow in their footsteps.

Isn't the Hyrule Warriors DLC day-one DLC? and they locked the QUEEN Cia away for DLC. Hyrule Warriors DLC seems sort of iffy to me so far. I guess we will see when the other packs launch though.

They have multiple sets of DLC. Cia, Wizzro and Volga will all be added at some point.

The DLC pack ($20 for four parts) contains:
Master Quest Pack: New weapon (Epona for Link), scenario, adventure map, and two costumes (costumes for Cia and Lana)
Twilight Princess Pack: New character, weapon, adventure map, and two costumes
Majora's Mask Pack: Two new characters, adventure map, and three costumes
Boss Pack: Two new games modes

We'll probably get a DLC announcement when the Wii U version gets released. But I'm not expecting much, Sakurai doesn't seem that willing to do DLC as much as Nintendo will want him to.

DLC in the form of a non-clone character would be very difficult to implement without disrupting the current balance of things (unless they have been working on and debugging this character from the beginning and just withheld them for later release). Stages, Mii clothing, and alternate costumes would be easy to put in however.

If we do get complete new non-clone characters, I can see them releasing them like 6 months to a year after the games are released, and similar to Mario Kart release them in packs.

Pack 1 could have 3-5 new (1 or 2 can be clone) characters with some stages, and Pack 2 could be the same.

Testing, debugging and balancing 6 or so new characters given a good time frame doesn't seem to daunting.

If Hyrule Warriors, a certified flop compared to SSB4, is getting serious DLC, there is no way SSB4 won't get it. SSB4 sold more in two days in Japan than Hyrule Warriors will probably do lifetime I would be shocked if they let Sakurai veto this.

The DLC seems to be planned in advance and so far we have always gotten new characters with DLC (6 for MK8 and 7 for Hyrule Warriors). I don't expect them to stiff us, especially when they can give fan favorites and make a potential couple of million extra from all the fanboys paying even more for the DLC and Amiibos for those DLC characters.

I definitely think we'll get packs and they'll be released over time. I think it'll either be a Heroes pack and a Villains pack set or a console pack and a handheld pack set with four or five characters in each pack, 2-3 items and four or five stages. Smash has a huge online base, like MK8, and I think Nintendo will give it some of its strongest content for the sole sake of raking in more money. I only expect 1 or 2 clones, though I hope there are none.
