I respect her 'cause she was/is daring. She's got guts and she speaks her mind. Not a fan, but she's cool.

I think her success is overrated. She has never had a US number 1 album and has had 3 number one singles in 60 years. She is simply a female in music, who has been around a long time. Good for her though, for managing that. It's something.
I don't really respect her as a person. It's a well known fact she was less than supportive of her daughters transition which is something not expected from an already established gay rights activist.
Having a net worth listed at $300 million but rumored to be at $600 million (Cynthia McFadden asked her this during an interview in 2008 or sometime around there) makes one extremely successful. No one in the public knows or cares about chart statistics. Cher is simply known as Cher around the world. That alone should be enough to let you know that she's a standout and universally known, which means she is very successful.
