No they dont. That's the same as saying everyone that has ever written positive things about gaga shouldn't have their reviews counted either.

Bias works both ways. If you want to disqualify those that have written only negative things in the past you must also disqualify those that write only positive things.

The bottom line is, don't organise campaigns to get people fired or have their reviews not counted. No one is ever going to score 100 percent.

But there's people on this thread in plain black and white that have asked people to write in and complain about the people that have given negative reviews. You can see the campaigns to try and get a review not counted or for someone to lose their job.

The person that posted that paragraph has a valid point. Obviously not all of you. You're great, others are great but there is that element to this thread.

Ugh. I know. It's just irritating when I'm just tryin' to enjoy this era and feel like everyone is attacking it.

There are only a few people that have done anything stupid tho. The people who attacked the Billboard writer were beyond ridiculous but those people weren't from this website. I even sent him a respectful email informing him that his review gave two different scores so that his publication could know and get it fixed.

Most of these people aren't serious. Some are, of course, but I've already dragged them for it. Anyways, it doesn't matter at this point because a metascore isn't gonna influence anyone on this album (made that point a long time ago) but it's a fun little thing to watch and see how it goes. Some reviews are a MESS tho.

I don't see any stans writing reviews for metacritic in which the positive reviews are favorably biased, do you? What I do see is an avid hater of Gaga reviewing the album which everyone knows is clearly going to receive a bad score. It just makes their publication and credibility look like a joke . It's only one review though, nothing too bad to get riled up about.

Giving fair reviews is one thing but deliberately giving 40 when every other critic has given this album 60 and above its another thing.
There's absolutely no reason to give an album a negative review especially if its this good.

You're forgetting were on atrl. If course stans don't want their fave's album to receive negative reviews

But there has to be some degree of credibility, right? How're you gonna give a 40 because you don't like Gaga and the reason she made the album?

I'm just saying, stans will react, especially after that author in particular was exposed, giving Angela Cheng tea, though I'm not one of those who sent in emails.

So, critics aren't allowed to differ from one another in opinion?

It's fine to hope for positive review, but that doesn't give them the right to attack those that disagree and then look for excuses for why they do.

And fyi dark lorde, no one is expecting C2C to get a 5/5, 100/100 score. There's no reason to even try to justify the 40 score Slant gave because this album doesn't deserve a 40 in any way.

I don't think anyone here is trying to say that all reviews need to be positive But it's kind of clear when you can see the reviewers attack the artist instead of reviewing the album at hand or giving unfair scores based on things other than the music. We have to get over it either way, but let's not act like this isn't a forum for music based discussion. People are going to discuss it whether you like it or not, and telling people that they care too much about it isn't going to change things. I hate when people here are constantly negative, but me telling them not to express their opinions wont change that either.

A 60 is only one star out of five higher than a 40, and the album has attracted quite a few 60s, so it's not surprising at all that there is a lower review. And yes, I think it is a fair review and that the album deserves around 2 to 3 stars. And that is coming from someone who has enjoyed much of Gaga's work up to that point and a BIG jazz fan. I just get tired of the Monsters and their histrionics and much of this is a result of all of the premature "Acclaim to Acclaim" posts backfiring. The album really isn't much more than your standard, mildly pleasant covers album and that is being reflected in the reviews.

Because I have been following this release for months and, even though I was disappointed, I am just as entitled to comment as you all are. That's sort of the point of music commentary and critical analysis.

Then leave? No one is forcing you to be around the monsters or post around them. A lot of them are genuinely excited about the album, and WERE excited to see where this would land on metacritic. People will express their dislike for certain critics reviews and you will simply disagree with it like we disagree with you. it's really not that hard to understand.
