a person should never diagnose themselves unless there is VERY good evidence that they have a disorder, it's fine to think you have a problem but you absolutely shouldn't take any serious action about it until you talk to a real psychologist or at least a person who has a lot of experience with psychology. you should never ever try to treat a mental disorder that you're not SURE you have because the treatments people seek are designed for people with actual disorders and can have adverse effects on people who they aren't intended for and it's especially bad to try to convince your doctor to give you medicine you don't need which can seriously mess you up oh my god *throws these people into the sun*

don't get me started on people who self diagnose mental problems. One time a girl told me she was depressed, and I believed her so I poured all this time and effort into helping her and turns out she had self diagnosed and she was never depressed in the first place, just a "little sad" and she was completely fine and I felt like such a dolt for opening up to her about my own (diagnosed) depression issues and blah blah blah. Ugh.
